Genius Returns. What I come to expect from David Byrne: Melodies, quirky & fun lyrics and sounds I never hear anywhere else. This new album is no exception. Been previewing through NPR leading up to the release date. So many new sonic elements and some serious funk as well. Always a welcomed return!!

What was he thinking?. This is not good. It’s lacking feeling, and sounds like someone didn’t want to even make the music. This is not the talented artist I once knew from years ago. I had high hope for this, but instead I’m greatly disappointed.

I'm happy. I honestly never listened to David Byrne's work until I bought the album he made with St. Vincent. After that I decided to try out Talking Heads "greatest hits" album. I was fairly happy. Now this album. I'm definately surprised that people who purport to be his fans are being downers about this. This album is fantastic.

Oh Well.... I really tried to give this album a chance and after several listens I've concluded that it's the sound of a genius way past his prime propped up by fabulous musicians. The lyrics are often quirky just for the sake of being quirky and at times come off as the ramblings of a sixth grader. The last 3 songs are worthwhile especially Everybody's Coming to My House while the rest is a frustrating, difficult listen.

oh dear. I have been a huge fan of both Talking Heads and solo David Byrne for many years. Some of his albums have been more successful than others but this unfortunately is a career nadir. Even the one song that had potential " Everybody's coming to my house " reeks of " Once in a Lifetime' remade, badly. I'll play "Remain in Light " and " Fear of Music " and remember him fondly.

The voice from my childhood has returned. Thankyou David. This album is a masterpiece, and along with your collaborators you have turned a mirror to today like no other artist can.
