BLS FAN. Sorry to say but the songs lack that Zack energy from past CDs (even older Ozzy solos). Good stuff but sounding too simular and not enough "Zack style" that he can dish out! Need a fresh sound! Sorry Zack!

Solid album ! Rocks. I've been a fan of zakk and black label for over 10 years . High school football was covered in black label mixes . Once again he doesn't disappoint . I was a little sad and worried when I heard nick left but don't worry if anything I think that made wylde and co even more fierce. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 9.5 bc let's face it there is no 10 lol but if you're thinking about getting it , do it you won't be disappointed

I want to like it.... … it's okay. It seems like the same solo happens in every song and there's no real standout on this album like on the other ones.

Zakk is still the man. I get the AIC comparisons, usually Mike Inez plays bass who was from AIC and Ozzy. Ozzy replaced Zakk because he had too much influence and it was sounding like BLS with Ozzy vocals. This is somewhere between Hangover Music and The Blessed Hellride. I really like the song ‘Damn the Flood'

Undecided..... Love Black Label. Appreciate they probably worked their butts off delivering this album. Also appreciate that each album is a little different and the sounds change over the years, but after being punched in the face with the awesomeness that was Order of the Black, I guess I was expecting something a lot more heavier. Something that would make me want to get fired up, drink some brew, and raise some hell.... this is not that album. Very disappointed. The album doesn't really stand out. Some songs are good and enjoying some of the riffs, but again it more like chill background music than berserker music. Was really excited for more BLS.... Maybe next time.

Not up to par. Without a doubt this is Zakk’s weakest release to date. I was really looking forward to this album after hearing Order of the Black which was a big step forward after the somewhat disappointing Shot to Hell. I’ll give it two stars though since there were at least two good songs on here, ironically there the mellow ones, Angel of Mercy & Scars.

Get it. First thought Alice in Chains....sounds good

Bls catacombs. In a year where the winery dogs& kxm came out with outstanding records .not to mention Alice in chains latest release .catacombs of the black Vatican is a masterpiece ,it flat out rocks everywhere it needs to rock and yet has a soft underbelly full of content. Zakk's influences vocally are all there to see. From Ozzy Osbourne to Greg Allman and dare I say I hear a little Chris Cornell? This album for me anyway. Seems to be the love child of all the great rock from Sabbath to Soundgarden with a little southern drawl in there just for good measure. I have really spent some time with this record and feel all of the pain and hard work that must have gone into writing such an Opus. Great job fellas! The next person that tells me rock is dead is going to get an earful of catacombs!!

It's a winner!. I don't often take the time to write anything about music but I'm compelled to recommend this album. It moves me. Enough said.

Great album. It's refreshing to hear that good metal is not dead. So much better then many of the albums that came out recently. Nice to hear not everyone sells out like five finger death punch.

King of Metal!. Zakk Wylde is the BOMB!!

The song remains the same. I've been a big Zakk fan since "No More Tears". His playing has gotten boring. This album sounds like all the rest. He should, tune his guitar up, ditch the wah, phaser and univibe for every solo and slow it down. From all I read I and the newest single I thought this would be something refreshing but it's the same as all the other BLS albums released since The Blessed Hellride.

Fantastic Stuff. Those whining about a mimic of Alice In Chains have only heard the preview of My Dying Time and heard a hint of AIC there - otherwise there's nothing in common...beyond the fact that ALL modern music can be said to sound like something that's come before. Now that the full release is out let's talk about the rest of the work. I have every BLS release, and this one is the freshest sound yet from this otherwise darkish, biker-type, rock hard till you pass out band. There's an up-tempo, less antagonistic, rythmicity going on here that wasn't in prior releases. One could say the production is a bit more "commercial", but in a good way. And that's a good thing -- it brings new listeners to the BLS camp without alienating their current fan base, and should have a broader appeal. It lends well to road trips when you just want to rock and forget the real world. It represents Zack's guitar and writing skills well, and the rest of the band is on par with the best the genre has to offer these days. If you're already a fan of BLS this will be like dessert to you -- something to relish along with the rest of the collection. If you're new to BLS this production will rock you. Certainly much better than a lot of what passes for hard rock these days.

Album smokes!!!. Album is another true heavy metal record. Zakk is the last of the true rockers! In a world of trendy junk music, he stays true to the game! With a lot of the style of Hangover music album also included. He can write great songs. And yes, it is supposed to sound like his other killer records. If you liked Shot-to-Hell and Order of the Black you will love this album!!

Classic Zakk. For me this one is up there with Eternal and Hellride. Maybe a touch too much of the Alice in Chains influence but overall solid and very listenable. As usual great guitars. Zakk still rules.

Hope Live is better!. This album has confirmed all my biggest concerns with BLS. Short of their last album which was excellent, this one is a step in reverse. Zakk is trying too hard on this one. Go back to the heavy riffs of the past and let's get away with this "Backstreet" version of BLS. Will be interesting to see how this album is "toughened up" for the tour. I am skeptical at best and unlike the last album I am not buying this one until I hear a version of one the new songs that I can actually listen to. I know you can do it live but truthfully I can see any of these songs being the next "Bleed for Me"

Stop Writing Music, Please!. Stick to playing the guitar and join a band with a good song writer. Good guitar playing does not equal good music. Don't get me wrong, I love Alice In Chains. However, their success is not based on fret-shredding, but based on great song-writing and a great singer.

Solid album!. First and foremost.. Zakk wylde made music way before alice in chains.. This album to me sounds like a hangover/mafia solid mix & I think I actually read someone saying in these reviews that zakk wylde has finally matured as a guitar player.. Wow.. Ridicules! If you appreciate great music, This is a solid album to pick up.. Otherwise go listen to another band that is only influenced by zakk wylde and can't play nearly as good.

Bad effin album!. This is their most mature, hard rocking album from start to finish. Every single song is an ear worm melody or riff that won't let go! You wake up in the middle of the night hearing these tunes in your head. Zakk has outdone himself again. I thought Order of the Black couldn't be topped but I am thankfully WRONG. There is not a filler song on this album. Buy this album if you are a fan of good hard rock and hangover music!

Zakk goes Ozzy. Feels a lot like Ozzy's, "Down To Earth," Album... Which was a great comeback album... Which Wydle co wrote so... Bang on that. Feel.

Best one yet!. Best one yet! Can't even imagine what the next one will sound like. Been listening to the new BLS non stop. Everyone should get it even if your not a BLS fan

Disappointing. There are only 3 songs that really rock on this CD, all the other are slow, grinding Black Sabbath style songs which has been done before and I don't care for it at all. Sorry Zakk, I have to say this CD is not very good.

AIC. Very Alice In Chains...good band to sound like though.

Meh. I was really looking forward to this BLS album...pre-ordered it months ago. It just doesn't deliver. It's pretty average & actually boring. "Order of the Black" & "Mafia" it is not. Just saw them on Gigantour (they killed), and almost bought tickets to see them next month. I'm glad I didn't spend the money now. Sorry Zakk...after that "Unblackened" garbage, I thought you would have gotten it out of your system.

Hell and Fire. Anyone else notice the last song on the actual CD is entitled "Hell & Fire" on the track listing, but it's entitled "The Nomad" on the CD case and on the iTunes song list? Same song, 2 different titles..... Great album either way!!

New sound. Great groove as always.. Definitely a jammer of a cd…turn this baby up loud. Noticed some new runs in his solos that are different than Ive ever heard from Zakk. Best BLS cd to date.

Worth the wait!. It was hard to wait for Catacombs of the Black Vatican but it was well worth it! BLS never disappoints. I love the whole album. I'm glad I downloaded it, but I must have a CD copy, too. BLS does it again!

Wow!. Just previewing entire album now and this gonna be unreal album. Mafia was huge album for me and I love the new single and listening to everything else makes me super excited for this album now.

Sounds awesome!. This sounds awesome! I'd say it'll easily be album of the year, but Judas Priest is releasing a new studio album this year, too.... So, we shall see! Either way, should be a great year for metal!

Classic BLS. Dont expect anything different from past albums. Solid album.. at first I wasn't too impressed with it but the more I listen to it the more the songs grow on me. Im not a huge fan of the slower stuff but the heavy tunes more than make up for it. A good balance of heavy and soft. Bottom line: if you like past BLS you won't be dissapointed. I also dig the production of this album quite a bit.

Extremely Dissapointed!!!. After order of the black i bought this cd without any hesitation, Zakk is a god i buy everything he does, see every concert when they come to town... This cd is good in comparison to anything else coming out, but black labels absolute worst cd of all time. I am extremely dissapointed and want my money back. Its like they just phoned it in on this one, maybe they needed a quick paycheck or something. I dont understand how they can go from order of the black to this... Overproduced and seems like it was written very quickly, songs have no substance, annoying guitar hooks hardly saved by the solo. What the hell black label!!

Start To Finish Great Album. Love The 2 Bonus tracks and can't get Angel Of Mercy out of my head!
