Meh... Has a few nice songs, but it's way too laid back and lazy for me now. Born & Raised was better than this. Seems like a "take it easy while my voice recovers" album.

Paradise Valley. I am as much of a John Mayer fan as everyone else here, however this album was a complete let down. What I love most about Mayer is his way with words, I couldn't find anything clever in this album - it was just... Boring. I hope he doesn't keep on down this road, looks like I'll just keep playing Born & Raised on repeat.

Paradise Valley!!!. I'm so excited for this album! it sounds great!!! John please come to australia next year!!! XD

How Cute!. Love his duet with Katy, it's so sweet. The rest of the album is amazing as usual!

August 23rd cannot come quick enough!. so excited for the release of this album. wildfire has such a fresh, happy vibe and I'm sure paradise valley, like all mayer's work, won't disappoint. this musical genius keeps evolving and is so refreshing amongst the manufactured pop of today.

Continuum John isn't coming back and that's ok.. Look, when I saw another album cover that looked like very much the same vibe as Born and Raised, I have to admit my heart sank a little. Don't get me wrong, I really liked B&R, a lot, but I'm on of those John Mayer fans who has long been holding out hope of a return to Continuum form. The thing is, I'm not sure if Continuum John Mayer is coming back at all. So it was a great outcome that from the moment I hit play on Paradise Valley, that fact suddenly seemed ok. This is skilfully crafted work from a proper musician, a genuine artist. For John's part, it sounds like the man who documented so many perusal struggles during the Battles Studies period of his life has really found himself in a good place here.

Awesome album. I absolutely love this album and everything mr John mayer does he can do no wrong in my books his songs are so amazing and this album is just beautiful everyone should listen to this album

Almost as good. A solid new album, mate. But I'm not sure if it lives up to the wondrous poetry of some of his previous works. My first opinion is that it's a little light-on, if you know what I mean. It's easy to love John Mayer's music --in all its forms-- so Paradise Valley is definitely worth the buy, however I think it's missing a bit of that characteristic 'warm caramel' hit that I expect from all of his music.

Love. In love.. John sings great. I love his music. Excited to have the duet with Katy and Him. Sounds perfect.

Mayerfan. John Mayer never disappoints!!! Can't wait for John to tour AUSTRALIA in 2014!! Keep the great music coming :-)

One up, one down. John follows his usual pattern of releasing a killer album and then following it up with an average one. Unfortunately this is one of the latter. There's a couple of decent tracks, but a lot of it sounds like songs that didn't make the cut on Born and Raised.

I was wrong. Captain America John has topped it again. His standard is perfection. I don't know how he keeps it up. He's done it again. Sorry with my careless first incorrect review the new cd is excellent it rocks it smooth cool blues country originals as was the last one and pop cool blues perfection continuum. Amazing well worth every dime.best music made Johns the king. Bravo John, congratulations. Is this only $10 now wow that's a bargain. I wish loyal fans like me got that discount :)

John Mayer. This is soo soo good

MAYER IS BACK. i don't think john mayer will ever write a song i don't like. if the whole albums anything like wildfire and paperdoll, paradise valley may overtake continuum as my fav

John Mayer is my Favourite Artist. I love how his music has progressed throughout his career. I just love his new album!

Evolved and enlightened. He has gone full country on a few songs but it isn't overwhelming and just further shows the versatility of this man. Buy this album and enjoy a little piece of paradise.

Smooth, sweet and powerful. What do you get if you add smooth guitar licks, sweet melodies and powerful messages? John mayer!!! He's got to be the most well rounded musician on the planet!

Will always love Mayer!. A bit more country twang than previous albums but probably going to fall in love with it anyway. Mayer can do no wrong in my eyes. Enjoying being a part of his ever changing musical journey. Good on you John! Lifetime fan here.

Paradise Valley - a big YES from me!. This is the first John Mayer album I have listened to and now I am a convert. Beautiful tone and relaxed complement of great songs.

Flawless. Paradise Valley is superb and so easy to listen to. John Mayer is amazing, and this album showcases his incredible talent.

J.M you rock 23rd August 2013 by Ninja B. You are a legend. Your music is like a fine wine, just gets better with age.👍⭕❌

Disappointing. Was hoping for a little more than what this album gives. There's a few in the mix there that are really good and classic Mayer, but I came away unsatisfied for the most part. If I could get a refund then I would because this album's just not that great.

11/10!!. John Mayer is one of the very few artists who continues to amaze me with his moving voice!!! Love this album!

Yes!. Yes Yes Yes. What an amazing transforming artist. This is laid back and tunefully done. Can't wait for full release.

The man of many genres delivers another great album.. I always admire an artist that can write and perform so many different genres. It shows excellent musicianship. This album is full of feel-good melodies that become stuck in your head in an instant. The guitar tones are brilliant. Very smooth tones. Mayer has delivered a wonderful album yet again. Thank you John for making days so much more enjoyable with your music!

Never ceases to amaze.. Every track a brand new masterpiece, vocals and guitar medley's gliding gracefully from one to the next. Mayer is the only musician I need.

Amazing. Brilliantly Beautiful...relaxed, low key but up beat all in one! John Mayer is a musical wonder xx

I'm so excited for this album to come out!. I have every other album of his and if it's anything like the others.... It'll be absolutely amazing. I'm so excited.

Paradise Valley. #MAYERISBACK

JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER. Love following John's musical journey... Love all his music, and he still continues to impress. Can't wait for full release!

Mayer is Back!!! Best Album Yet!. This is the most anticipated album of my life & it does not disappoint! There is something so soothing in JM's songs, I love all the musical layers too. I have really connected to these songs & cannot WAIT for JM to tour down under! Hope he comes soon!

Has a great feel. It grows on me each time I listen to it. Another great album from John Mayer.

Love it!!. I LOVE this album :) I have it on repeat at the moment! Only thing is that it has Frank Ocean on it :/ But Katy Perry makes up for it!!

Masterpiece. This is an amazing album that includes some of the most memorable songs of 2013! Plus the mixture of genres in the music is really well done THUMBS UP Mayer :)

!. I am getting to like John's music so hopefully this record is good!!

Great!. Great album....lots of cool songs......released around the same time as the sad news of the legendary JJ Cale's death, I actually think the best song on the album is the cover of JJ Cale's "Call me the Breeze" ....could almost be a tribute to the legend!

Magnificent Mayer Delivers Again. It goes without saying that John Mayer has himself a very loyal fanbase, many of whom have followed him right from the very beginning of his career when "No Such Thing" burst on to charts all those years ago. And its easy to see why his fanbase are so loyal. Mayer just doesnt disappoint with each release. While this album might not have an immediate designed for radio hit single, it does have a finely crafted collection of songs that are just perfect for playing on a lazy Sunday one a fine sunny day. Taking on a little more of a country influence this time around, Mayer carries on from where Born And Raised left off. Having recovered from throat surgery in recent times, Mayer himself has stated that his voice isnt what it should be at the moment, and he currently has trouble hitting the high notes of songs like No Such Thing. Yet despite this, his voice seems to be in fine form here, even if it is in a slightly lower register. This album is a must have for anybody who is John Mayer fan, and indeed for those who like good quality finely crafted songs with a story to be told.

Best. Everyone should shut up saying " nah I wish it was more like continuum boo hoo" as a guitarist it's impossible to stay interested in one style , johns evolving get over it... He's a freakn god!

John continues to improve with age & skill. I didn't think I could love a John Mayer album more than Born & Raised, but then Paradise Valley was released. I have not yet heard the whole album and it's already my new favourite. John's style of writing with melodies and harmonies makes me feel like I'm on a road trip and in no hurry to be somewhere. I particularly love his new country flavor of music, not that I haven't loved the others. John just keeps getting better and better!

Love, love, love it!. I'm 14, and I don't like the 'hip' techno songs. John is one of my favourite artists up amongst the kings and queens of music. Very eager to buy this album. Well worth the money, keep up the great work, John!

Paradise. Love it love it love it from beginning to end. Who you love & paper doll are my favourites :-) well done John.

I LOVE IT!. John Mayer is just too good, I don't think he will ever write a song I won't fall in love with :) 'On the way home' is my favorite. But the whole album is just beautiful <3

Just. Beautiful. Just love it . Feel good songs and reminds me of the first time I listen to John . I think. It will be big big big especially in the country scene as well .

Amazing. I am a massive fan of John Mayer and I loved him from when I only knew of Boprn and Raised and Paradise Valley. Every album he has made is different from the others, yet they are all masterpieces. Paradise Valley is a calming and breezy yet extravagant display of what John Mayer can do, and what he has done. Well done John, can't wait for your next album at the end of the year, I'm it'll be a ripper like the rest!

Quality addition. Another quality easy listener from a super talented musician/composer

Very catchy!. Just played this in the car while cruising in this beautiful spring weather, it just completed the journey with its catchy yet relaxing tones, absolutely love it.

Bringin' back melody. Refreshing, memorable melodies...Mayer the musician!

John Mayer has done it again. Downloaded this album last night, John Mayer has produced another awesome album in my opinion. No fan will be disappointed

BRILLIANT!!!. Ugh John Mayer just never fails to impress, this album is flawless!!!

My wife bought this.... ...it stinks. Awful. Avoid at all costs

Good but safe. I think what some people are trying to say and others are failing to understand when albums such as Continuum are mentionned is that Mayer is a real talent and perhaps has been playing it a little too safe recently. This album is easy listening and well produced. Mayers vocal skills are clear as always but his ability to be one of the best guitar players in the world are less evident = shame. His JJ Cale cover Call Me The Breeze is probably the best song here given Mayers talent.........

Negative Reviews. This is what this is for give an opinion so people can see how its fell to someones tastes. Lot of the negative reviews here though just dont seem to get it. Lets have the same album all in a row - why? What I would say is this album feels quite emotional and laid back. In a world full of demands and violence and greed this feels a nice thing to sit back to and relax. Good for John but listen to the samples and make your own mind up.

Fantastic. Have been waiting for this album for a while and safe to say it doesn't disappoint. Some people are saying its no good due to the fact it isn't his 'older' stuff but artists mature and find a sound and safe to say this is more than fantastic to listen to.

Love it. Love every single song

Another side to John!. Here's another side to John, been following him since his very first album, this just shows no matter what style of music he creates he can master it! Brilliant album!

Yawn Mayer. Really? By the time an artist releases a third disappointing album on the bounce, you have to start wondering if he's lost the thing that attracted you in the first place. That's the case here. Born and Raised was just about ok, but this is just too bland for me. I'm not into country, and although 'who you love' is pretty sweet - I find it hard to believe this is the same man as the genius behind Heavier Things and Continuum. I just hope he moves back to a busy city and/or has another terrible break up to write about next time.

A Versatile Musician. People will dislike John Mayer for not constantly writing music in the way he has in the past - Room For Squares (Pop), Continuum (Blues/Rock), Trio (Heavy Blues) and now more recently country - but that's what makes him grea! Although his music varies, it always has that John signature on it, slick guitar riffs and melodic vocal harmonies.

John Mayer on a bad day is better than most the rest. Not to say this isn't a good album, it's better, more musically skilled and emotive than almost everything else out at the moment. But this is not his best. This is no Room for Squares, Continuum or Born and Raised and the saddest fact of all? People will only now become aware of him because he's dating Katy Perry and they will never know 'John Mayer - The Genius Years'. That being said...this album is still pretty darn insanely good.

Fantastic!. Seriously people! This album is incredible, no it's not the same as Continuum like sooo many people have said, but I like the new direction Mayer has gone in, he's a very talented man and capable of many different genres, I welcome the change and the chance to listen to what else he can do. The same old thing again and again gets boring and if you go buy this album with an open mind and not expecting it to be like earlier albums of his you wont be disappointed! I'd say 70% of the songs on this album are hits! Well done John!

Meh. The first John Mayer album I haven't wanted to buy. I keep coming back to it thinking I will fall in love with it but I haven't. I've purchased a couple of the songs but somehow the album misses the mark for me. It's not because it's not bluesy enough etc - I've loved all of his musical directions with Continuum and Born & Raised being top of my list. I really want to like this ... but I just don't.

So Good!. This is another album that just shows how versatile John Mayer is and he nailed it.

Hmmm. I'm not sure. Born and Raises and now this album sort of blend together in a folky kind of tone that I'm not sure i prefer. I adore his bluesy tunes in other albums so I hope this folky-ness doesn't hang around too long.

Fantastic. This album is a change yes so for all who have listened to the short snippets from iTunes and instantly make a judgement, bow your head in shame. Yes it is a change but all artists change if you don't like it don't listen look at bands such as fleetWood mac who completely changed after rumours for tusk due to Lindsay Buckinghams wondering mind. Change is good if you heard 3 songs of continuum and consider yourself a fan well I'm sorry but your not in the slightest.

Amazing. John has once again delivered in style. Different from his other albums as he develops further Into different genres, yet his musical talents are further explored and shown with this. Amazing, especially after all the problems he had with his voice it's great to hear him back in such style!

Awesomes sounds. This is John mayer for any fan, his awesome voice shines thru, more songs pls, love the old favourites but this is just more refined and great music

Easy listening. I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion. Great voice and lyrics. Just as good if not better than his earlier stuff. Worth buying.

Incredible. Such an amazing album! I like the country feel to this album which still promotes johns amazing talent and songwriting! Still on replay.

Crying. I am going to go and cry in a corner, this album is amazing, John is amazing. It's all too much I can't cope

A change is as good as a rest..... Yes, it's different to his other stuff, but beautifully so. The breadth of musicality is fantastic. Buy it and celebrate differences.

Simply beautiful. Discovered John Mayer a few years ago and I am completely in love with his music. This album has got to be the best thing I have ever purchased. Dear Marie is so so so beautiful but my favourite is without a doubt On The Way Home, makes me want to live in America when I'm older. This album is an absolute must have, best John Mayer album!

Love it!. The blues-ey, country feel and the great musicianship make this irresistible listening..

So much feeling. I haven't been so touched by an album in years. Thank you John.

John never fails to entertain. This guy has always been this good. I don't even know why should be ever say anything bad about him and his music.

Absolutely in love!. Paradise Valley is a brilliantly written country/blues album. Every song is top notch. From the very first song 'Wildfire' it feels like you're sitting in the Wild West. Mayer has proven himself again to be one of the best singer-songwriters, America has ever produced. This album doesn't disappoint.

Amazing!. Such a good new album. Very chilled! Holiday music for my boyfriend and I:)

WOW. Fantastic album best album yet from John just buy it ;)

Paradise Valley. Thoroughly enjoying the album, and the slightly different sound it brings. Great songs, great melodies and lyrics that hit. Money well spent.

An artist in its peak. An amazing album by a clearly mature artist. Smooth uplifting songs where jazz and blues meet country.

Off in search of a new guitar hero. Sorry I just don't get Mayer's new musical direction. He's one of the most innovative guitarists of his generation, yet on this album and the previous one he's off on this laid-back folksy trip - churning out the kind of middle of the road music which countless others are offering up. Such a disappointment.

Brilliant!!!. So many people are negative about change. Change is natural. It shows growth and honesty. I personally love the new c.d. Great players, great songs, great everything. John Mayer is the man.

A new territory for John Mayer. Paradise Valley is most definitely not the new Continuum. But that by no way means it is any slouch either. Paradise Valley is a very heartfelt and mature album along with Born and Raised with a softer jazz vibe with a tiny bit of country added to it. John Mayer fans should not dwell on comparisons to Continuum but to embrace his musical journey across multiple styles and genres as Paradise Valley is a very fine album.

Amazing. Of course it would be amazing for John to do another Continuum style album, but I'm not gonna whine about it while he's still making great music.

Nice Follow-up to Born & Raised. Nice to hear some country/bluesy tones throughout the album. Really enjoyed Born & Raised so it's good to hear that's Mayer is sticking to that formula. Great little summer album! Keep up the good work!

Love it love it love it!. Guys just a legend! Paper doll is amazing! Thank you John Mayer!

Why are you going backwards John?. I have been a long time fan and even went on the Mayercruise. If this had been the first album I would never have bought it. I only bought it because I am going to the 02 gig and need to know the music. I hope John does not play any of this stuff tho. Seems like John has played his best stuff in past albums. This is soft country. Come on John where's the guitar, the rock, the blues and the enthusiasm? Boring!!!

Paradise valley. Very good album, great lyrics and great music in general! Only thing that let it down for me is wildfire with frank ocean.. Other that that.. Brilliant!!!

Enjoyable but no Born & Raised. It has its moments of genius but sadly it feels a little rushed and incomplete. Born & Raised is too good an act to follow this time I am afraid and i think a little more time could have been needed to meet the exceptional standard we are used to getting from John Mayer.

Pretty good return to form for JM. This is pretty good return to form for John. The understated vocals suit the overall mood of the album with shades of JJ Cale and Little Feat. A little more Americana than "Born & Raised" but the song writing is strong with a lovely cover of Call me the Breeze. Might not suits those fans who prefer John's more commercial releases but this shows an artist working his craft. I think John probably missed the opportunity to road test this material during his vocal rest period as the arrangements seemed quite safe. All in all, good to have John back.

Born & Raised in Paradise Valley. A great continuation from Born & Raised. Paradise Valley marries together the direction Mayer is going with depth, colour, emotion and atmosphere. On The Way Home and Waiting on the Day are beautiful and I could listen to them over and over. If you're a fan of his work so far, you cannot go wrong with buying this. It's brilliant.

Excellent album. It took me a couple of listens but I love this album now! Amazing first half with great songs one after another. Tracks, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 are great....

mmm i want to like this but. I cant!! I like all types of music but I have now played it 4 times and I still dont like it !! Will i like it in a few months time? Maybe!!

love it!!. I will be found and who you love are definitely the best songs on the album. Would definitely recommend, he never fails to create a perfect album. x

Inspirational. I cannot put into words the talent that John has in turning his hand to different genres of music but still retaining his own unique and totally brilliant style and musicianship which blows my mind every time. To the haters of his latest venture of course you are entitled to your opinions but you need the music of Mayer more than he needs you!! trust me!!

Misunderstood. Ill start by saying that this is not the john mayer i love. However i can say this is one of the best albums I've listened to. I loved the blues stuff but this has broadened my mind and ignited a love for a new genre. John mayer is NOT a writer and musician who plays what he's told. He plays what he wants. This is a great quality and must be respected. Great album.

John Mayer at his best. I've yet to buy the album, but from what I've heard so far it looks like it's going to be a great purchase when I do.

Creative!. I've been a fan of John Mayer since his first album and I have to say, this is his most mature writing yet! Despite people's complaints about the lack of guitar solos, there is plenty of melodic guitar throughout the album and at the end of the day, if its bluesy guitar you want then listen to "where the light is"! Katy Perry is also great on this, the style suits her better than her usual pop stuff! Easy listening album with deep profound lyrics with all kinds of metaphors and meanings, for all Mayer fans and those looking for something easy going - this album is well worth the money.

Born and Raised (Part 2). As the title of my review suggests, I believe this to be an extension of the work that was done on 'Born and Raised'. The sound is similar, if a little more closer to the traditional country sound. Like all follow-up albums (See Radiohead's 'Amnesiac', Coldplay's 'Prospekts March EP' or Fleetwood Mac's 'Tusk') it suffers from having too little time between albums. That is not to say that it is a bad album... It follows on nicely from 'Born and Raised'. When playing through his back catalogue in chronological order, it would flow as if it were part of the same album. The problem is that where 'Born and Raised' was fresh and interesting, this is too familiar. For those complaining that JM needs to go back to the bluesy sounds of 'Continuum' need to take another listen here. You could easily be fooled by the shuffling drums and the slide guitar that this is just a country album, but the guitar solos are more blues than anything from his 00's output - They are just in a new context. The album feels really short. It deifinitely leaves you wanting more. The running time is within acceptable limits, but it flies by. The album perhaps lacks the killer blow of previous albums, there is no obvious single (I am aware that 'Paperdoll' and 'Wildfire' have both been released, but they do not stand out from the crowd) and although most people seem to dislike those kind of songs on albums, they are necessary. Something to bring you back to the album. It is a slow-burner and will take a couple of listens. The lack of a solid single may mean that some of this album's audience will not appreciate it to its full potential. Certainly not a misfire, but this album won't find it's way on to any list of Mayer essentials. For Mayer fans, this album is a 4-star. For those who aren't, then it is a solid 3.

Brilliant. The best album I've purchased in a long time. I think it's better than Born and Raised, bluesy and slightly country. John Mayer's style is like a fine wine, improving with age.
