Man why did Bon have to die?. Don't get me wrong I love Brian. But Bon just had such an amazing personality about him, on and offstage. And don't forget about the voice. The guy was a legend. Sooooo many underrated gems on here. Sin city, what's next to the moon, rock n roll damnation, kicked in the teeth, gone shootin. I mean wow. Just get it now!

Often Overlooked but Very Satisfying!. This record never got the credit that it deserved. I myself did not get into it as much as Acdc's other releases when it came out, but it has grown in it's stature and importance with the passing of time. Songs like Down Payment Blues which is like a din unleashed from Hades , with Bon wailing "I got holes in my shoes and I'm way overdue, Down Payment Blues!" Or perhaps Sin City, with Bon growling "Ladders and Snakes, ladders give, snakes take!" The band is in fine form here bashing out the no-frills Rock N Roll that made these guys famous. Don't pass this one up!

Great because nobodys heard of it!. To me, when it comes to AC/DC, the less commercial, the better. That is why I like Bon Scott better than Brian Johnson. I never get tired of these songs because they are almost never played on the radio and mostly only TRUE ACDC fans know of it. For example, I love Back in black. However, I would love songs like You Shook Me, Back In Black and Hells Bells a whole lot better if they werent played nonstop or known by almost every person on the planet. This album is so great because it has absolutely none of that, so its nearly impossible to get tired of it. The best songs are Rock n Roll Damnation, Riff Raff, Sin City, Down payment Blues, and Gone Shootin.

The best. Far and away their most underrated album. Best Bon Scott era album.

Pure Rock!. AC/DC at their peak!

Just Rips!. ...even after all these years, this album still kills it!!

a wonderful album. I have never been a big AC/DC fan. To me, their music, although classic, has always followed a true and tested formula rarely leaving room for innovation. Much like the Ramones. More recently, I began listening to the Bon Scott era records and discovered a wonderful band before global success had struck. The records showed not only a band at the peak of their energy but as well as creativity. In that era, I like this record the best. It has exquisite songs such as "Gimme a Bullet" a bluesy and almost soulful song, while "what's next to the moon" has a super cool thick guitar riff that leaves plenty os space for Bon to swing his way through. Finally, "rock and roll damnation" is probably one of the best rock songs ever due to its simplicity and dry guitar work, which is remarkable to a guitar band such as this one and a guitar hero as Angus. A worthy record even for the average rock fan.

If you only had one AC/DC album.... Stationed on Guam when I bought this, not knowing who they were. I was hooked. Saw them in Norfolk VA in 1979. On an aircraft carrier, three days away from Perth in 1980 with plans to go ashore and find anything I could about this band(that and meet up with a girl I met in Singapore) then fate stepped in. Bon died and Iraq attacked Iran and they turned our ship around. I never made it to Australia but I have ALWAYS had a copy in some format of this album.

Powerage is as good as AC/DC gets. My favorite Cd by my favorite band

AC/DC's best. It doesn't get better than this if it's AC/DC you want. This was back in the day when they made that beautiful bluesy sound that no one plays anymore. I'm surprised and disappointed that Riff Raff never became a concert staple, it's probably one of their best songs they've ever done. This is probably one of the most underrated albums ever, which is weird because it belongs to the giant that is AC/DC. When you think of them, no one thinks about their bluesy days with Bon, which is sad because that was their best music. Buy this album. Now.

Best of the Lot. From a Deep Purple Fan: Best AC/DC album hands down. May not be as well known, but if Rock is your game - This one knocks it out of the park.

Now...This IS Rock n Roll!!!. I have heard this as a kid, back when it was new, and I knew it was AMAZING and would stand the "test of time". Now I'm nearly 52, and I still love it. Down Payment Blues, indeed! Aloha from Maui, R.H.

Such a great record!. I know everyone else here has raved about this record, but they're all right. Under appreciated, overlooked, this group at their best. In fact, Highway To Hell is a step and a half down from here. Riff Raff may be their best song period. Gone Shootin' gets to their blues roots. Gems everywhere here. Buy this record. DO IT!!!

Bon Scott's Greatest. This album is just as good as the 1977 album "Let There Be Rock", if it isn't better! Seriously, rock doesn't get any better than this.

Really Couldn’t Get Any Better?. I think this is really their masterpiece ! It’s as tough and creative as AC/DC ever got! Stunning Solid Album With The Original Line Up 👍

Must have lp.,plus, highway to hell,TOO! Good tunes.. Yeah

My favorite album of all time.. No contest. P.S get this back to five stars please and hunt down whoever made it go down to 4.5/5.

Insanely underrated. Listen to it, people!. This album picks up where "Whole Lotta Rosie" left off; this fast, straightforward, and driving energy is behind all the songs on "Powerage." It's a more streamlined sound from the rough and raw takes heard on "Let There Be Rock" and other past albums, yet it still retains the in-your-face rock 'n' roll essence that IS AC/DC. Clean, outstanding production that sounds ahead of its time compared to other rock records. The lyrics are less about Bon getting some in and drinking the night away, but instead reveal a jilted, struggling, working-class version of him; makes this album much darker than the others. After several listens to "Powerage" though, its follow-up, "Highway To Hell," almost sounds too clean. I suppose bringing in Mutt Lange's production work also brought in the anthemic, poppier, AC/DC party songs that everyone knows the words to; and therefore, less attention to gems like this. A lot of people ignore this album, it seems... that's why I chose to start listening to AC/DC with this album. Give it a try!

The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Album Ever. The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Album Ever... I can't say much more than that.

AC/DC's Finest Album. This is really the last of the true classic AC/DC albums. This album has it all, AC/DC hitting their stride but not yet abandoning that wide open spacious sound and incredible smooth overdriven guitar tone. Highway to Hell and Back in Black are great albums, but the mix is much denser on those albums and they lack the dynamics that this album has. The best tracks are pretty much all of them.

Takes me back to my youth. I can still remember how I felt the first time I listened to this record. Highway to Hell had just come out and I thought it was the best AC/DC album, until I heard Powerage. I love this album! Listening to it today takes me back to 1980. I had the LP, the cassette and the 8-track and got CD as soon as it came out. Now I am getting it digitally. I will get a copy of these great recordings in what ever format comes along. This is one of my favorites of all time.

The Best AC/DC Album!. Criminally under appreciated album. The Best in their entire catalog.

Without Question the Best AC/DC Record. I was inculcated with the pounding AC/DC music from a young age due to two older brothers in the 70s. Wanting to be me I tried to get into Brian Johnson Ac/Dc and Van Hagar but there is only one AC/DC, Back in Black and Fort Those About to Rock notwithstanding. I love AC/DC but this is without a doubt the best record they put out, which is strange because it might be their least known (to the uninitiated). Rock n roll damnation is the best tune they ever recorded, heck it might be the best rock tune ever recorded period. There simply isn't a non classic on this record. I love it so much i wrote a review on itunes about it.

RESERVATION ROCK AND ROLL. I can't beleive this AC/DC album POWERAGE was just made available for purchase, I had this album on cassette back in the day in 1979 when I was attending high school in Northwest New Mexico, this music brings back memories of living on the REZ, I also bought AC/DC's Back in Black soon after this one, I am glad to have this album on my computer through iTunes, great music five stars all the way!!!

This Is It. If somehow you are new to AC/DC, this is the album you have to have. Obviously, you need to have all of them but this is their best album. There are so many grooves on this record. Every song is strong. This is the essence of AC/DC. This album displays a band that has honed their craft by being on the road constantly. Get this album. You won't regret it.

AWESOME!. One of Ac⚡️Dc best! Incredible vocals (Even though Brian's vocals are amazing) sometimes I miss the good old Bon singing. But oh well, Ac⚡️Dc are still the ROCK GODS and no one can TOUCH what they do. Rock on Ac⚡️Dc!

These people aren't lying. It is the best AC/DC album. Period. Totally and completely rock!

Great Blusey Album. To me this is their second best album (Let There Be Rock being #1). I loved how blusey this album was, and the guitar riffs are awesome. Riff Raff is one of my all time favorites. Buy this album!

At Last!. This is by far my favorite AC/DC album. Why it is so insanely underrated I will never understand. Kinda like 'Fair Warning' for Van Halen in terms of not getting the sales, but just being the best all around album in their catalog. "Rock N Roll Damnation", "Down Payment Blues", "Sin City", "Riff Raff" are all great songs, but every song on here is great. One song I have to mention is "Gimme a Bullet". Not only is it my favorite song on the album, but it's my favorite song by AC/DC period. If you like AC/DC but you don't own this you don't know what your missing. F.Y.I. it's also Brian Johnson's favorite Bon Scott era album, check it out.

Rock n Roll Damnation. Take the chance while you still have the chioce.

Absolutely incredible. I can’t listen to this album enough. It’s just amazing. The guitar tone throughout is just perfect. Each musician is absolutely on top of their game. Every track is great. I think it’s their best album, for sure. It’s like scouring the planet for the best ingredients to make the perfect meal and then giving those ingredients to the best chef in the world. Can’t stress enough how good this album is. Gosh darned, the guitar tone. . . . . .

Amazing !. Not a big single on here but the whole album is perfection . All Acdc fans should own this one .

yummy. if sound had taste this would taste even better than mcdonalds fries literally one of the best albums ever

Their Most Underrated Album. AC/DC have some pretty underrated albums- Flick of the Switch, Fly on the Wall, and Blow Up Your Video- but this by far is their most. Every song on here is amazing, and some of my personal favorites are Rock N Roll Damnation, Sin City, Riff Raff, and Down Payment Blues.

Incredible. Easily AC⚡️DC’s best. Incredible album. Not a bad track here. My favorite is probably Gimme a Bullet, that song kicks ass🤘🏼🔥

❤️. ❤️

Only one word: Too Underrated. I’m not saying this is the very best AC/DC album, but it is very, very underrated. It’s really good and well made, but Back In Black will beat this album anytime.

Should have Cold Hearted Man. I bought this in the UK when it came out. Rock and Roll Damnation was not on it (you had to buy it as a single). Gimme a Bullet started it off. The LP had Cold Hearted Man but I have yet to see it available. It should definitely be on this. Would get 10 stars if it was included.

This is the best AC/DC album, period. As a diehard AC/DC fan for many, many years, I can say you have arrived at the pinnacle of Rock n Roll with Powerage. Every song is an absolute gem, and is still probably the band's most versatile album. This is my favorite album of all time, and Cliff's debut album! Legendary rhythm throughout this album. Keep your ears tuned for Gone Shootin', it's an all time classic. Check out Cliff's bassline during the solo of Gone Shootin' and Phil's work in Down Payment Blues. Bon's lyrics are timeless and you can tell he's lived every word. And of course, the Young brothers give you everything that you ever wanted. The rock solid rhythm section often gets overlooked but they deliver in spades. This should be required listening for any rock fan. Your life will be enhanced.

at last!!. One of their best!!! such a great album

The best. I love all AC/DC albums with bon scott and angus best band ever

.. Best album ever

Masterpiece!. The best AC/DC album

The best rock and roll record ever/. Everybody has their favorite, and this is mine. Total kickass from end to end. I mean most records have at least ONE song you skip over, but not this one. Pure road drivin' perfection. Do yourself a favor and drive around in a convertible on a summer day with this blasting.

My favorite of their best. Regardless of who’s at the mic - this is the best work AC/DC put out in their long and storied career. Many incredible albums and songs. That said, I prefer Bon Scott, and I prefer this album. Hell; Brian has even said this is his favorite AC/DC album - and that is rather telling I believe, of the quality of this record. BUY IT.

Another Classic w/Bon Scott behind the Mike!. Again, one of the bands best releases. From the opening track, they are tight and you can't help but see how this album shaped East Coast Rockers Kix with their early sound, especially Riff Raff & What's Next to the Moon. No disrespect to Brian Johnson but AC/DC was a machine leading up to Back in Black and while still good with Brian Johnson their sound changed and the grittiness faded. Gimme the first 5-6 albums anyday over anything with Brian did, Back in Black withstanding.

Holy Crap this is the best AC-DC ALBUM by far!!!. Whats Next to the Moon!! Gone Shootin'!!! Just for these two songs alone worth the price!! BON,BON,BON!!! If for some un-earthly reason you are not hip to early AC-DC then get your wallet out and get these early pieces of pure Rock'n'Roll Gold!!

Love it. AC/DC ROCKS

Gone shooting. Rest in Peace Malcolm and Bon. Buy this album and experience their timeless talent and genius. Hands down my favorite AC /DC. Highway to Hell's a close 2nd.

Best AC/DC Album. For me, this is the best AC/DC album. Hands down. Pure rock n' roll, but with a hint of the blues make for great songs. If you like AC/DC's more popular tunes you might find this a bit hard to swallow. But if you ask me… this is really is their best.
