The Pentultimate Foster. There are very few artists works that both define and distinguish. Foster's Symphony Sessions do just that- It is a masterpiece that has become absolutely timeless. While it was produced now many years ago, it distinguishes itself as the pure definition of David Foster- brillant, balanced, and timeless. It is an album that evokes dreams, sorrows, and absolute joy. Listen with your ears- your heart and your soul will soon be along.

An Amazing Album That Still Moves Me. I bought this album when it originally came out and listened to it over and over. It moved me so much like no other music had ever done. Listening to this album, I think of everything that has passed in my life - the happy and the sad. But at the same time I am overcome with a happiness that I cannot describe. The Symphony Sessions is truly emotional music - David Foster has given us a masterpiece!

Good Rainy Sunday Afternoon Listening. This album is still as timeless now as it was when I originally purchased it in 1989. I still remember an A&E special for this album and David Foster saying he may never go back to computerized/electronic music after this. There are some vocals on this that are excellent also.

The Journey. To echo one of the other reviews submitted by Marty Funderburke, this collection is, in my opinion, one of the greatest instrumental collections created. This is a complete demonstration of the giftedness and talent that David Foster has been blessed with. Whether on a walk, a drive or sipping a glass of wine in your living room, this collection will take you on a musical journey. For the musician, you will truly be inspired.

finest performance. The most incredible album of songs. I don't have a clue how many times I have played it. At least hundreds of times. David Foster is one of the most gifted people ever and his music has touched so many!

5 Stars for David. Pop Symphony Masterpiece. This CD jumps out to the listener from the 1st note of Piano Concerto in G. David is making a statement to his audience that he has arrived and to settle in for a superb high fidelity hour of entertainment. The raw musical emotion in the score of The Ballet is phenomenal as it reaches to the core. Time Passing reaches down your inner soul with meloncholic sublime and the transition between piano to classical guitar speaks of pure artistry. Conscience is a beautiful piano melody with a symphony orchestra backdrop that brings harmony and the melody together as if a heartfelt story is being told. Firedance gets the rhythems moving again and awakens you saying "go forth - get moving" Winter Games - say's we're here! We're here to win this race, we're the tops and we're all in sync moving together with juices flowing. Love Theme - if you haven't watched the movie, the Secret of My Sucess, this is the scene where it all comes together for the couple. The rest of the CD - well, you'll just have to buy and enjoy it as much as we do....

The Definitive David Foster. This album has affected me more profoundly than any album I have ever owned. It has shaped every aspect of how I listen to music. From tender, heart-rendering moments, to blazes of sheer glory and triumph, David Foster has his finger on the pulse of raw emotion. He is truly the Mozart of our time.

Winter Games is Timeless!. The song 'Winter Games' was comissioned for the '88 Olympics by Coca-Cola and I remember a fantastic video created for the song. David was playing piano and conducting a full orchestra at the same time out in the snow. Fabulous photography and imagery. When I hear this song I can still see those skiers swooshing down the slopes and David throwing his arms up conducting from the piano. This song turned me on to David Foster's talent and he is probably the finest producer (and accompaniest) working today. This is also the best song ever written for the Olympics.

This album is what David Foster is about.... I bought this album a year ago, and I still cannot overcome the brilliance of this talented musician. He has the beautiful, triumphant songs like 'Firedance' and 'Piano Concerto In G', yet the highly emotional 'Just Out of Reach' and 'Water Fountain'. The oboe is especially nice to hear in some of the songs like 'Just Out of Reach', as well as many other instruments. I try to create my songs, but none flows as smoothly yet sophisticated as his. There is a song in here for just about everybody, whether you happen to be in a good or somber mood. It is perfect for every occassion.

CD of a lifetime...... If you've ever really been in love, this CD will speak volumes to you, without any lyrics at all. That's the best way to say it. This is David Foster at his best. Sadly though, we wouldn't get much more out of him, after this. I remember him saying that he would no longer want to produce any music without a real, live orchestra. He didn't want to put any more 'synth-based' music (of his own) out there. I hope with the high-quality samples and technology that's now available, he would please reconsider and just release a new solo CD. ! Please! :) I think we were all spoiled by this collection, including Foster himself. I also wish the long-form video he released for this was still available. It got lost to an ex-girlfriend and I would love to be able to get it. Apple, are you listening here. :) It would be awesome to have that for a download here! We can dream, right?! Either way, buy this CD. Listen to it with someone you love. It's easily one of the best soundtracks for your time with that person you love.

This is Nice But...... By the same token where's David Foster's stuff by his 70's band "Skylark?" Have been waiting for his immortal 70's hit "Wildflower" forever and a day now. Having a lot of his music here on iTunes gives me hope I guess, but still anything from "Skylark" has yet to arrive on iTunes. Oh well.

If I Could Only Have One Album.... You know the old question, "If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one album what would it be?" My answer: David Foster's Symphony Sessions! The greatest piece of music I have ever heard.

David Foster's Very Best. This was the very first CD I ever bought, even before I owned a CD player. I had it on cassette, but knew without a doubt this was music I wanted in my life for some time to come. I highly recommend it to anyone who just loves music.

The ultimate compliment. I first heard the Symphony Sessions recordings in San Jose when a sound company was putting their equipment through the paces in preparation for an outdoor concert. I stood motionless in front of this wall of sound and felt my heart swell with emotion. In 1989, while making wedding plans with my beautiful fiance', I proposed the beginning of "Water Fountain" for my bride's slow walk down the aisle with her father. She agreed. At the ceremony, following the long march of the wedding party, there was a silence, inflated with anticipation, as well-wishers awaited my wife's entrance. Then... as delicate as the pearls around her neck, the opening piano motif sounded - then again, and she entered as the music began to fall like snowflakes on everyone. The crowd was utterly spellbound by the moment - a moment amplified one hundred fold by the perfect music. Thank you David Foster for, unknowingly, writing that song just for us.
