Possibly my favorite soundtrack of the last decade. Amazingly done by Trent Rizner and Atticus Ross. Love when they team up, as in Gone Girl's soundtrack. Could listen to this all day long.

Why?. Where is the orchestra? Seriously, it’s just full of stupid electronic crap. And what is “In the Hall of the Mountain King” doing in here? Did Grieg work on this? If he wasn’t a part of this then clearly it wasn’t an “original” score. “Inception” and “How to Train Your Dragon” incite a wide variety of emotions. This? This makes me think I’m at some sort of mediocre dance party.

I’m Ten years later. I’m totally obsessed with this movie . I Randomly searched for this soundtrack, wasn’t sure if there was one , found it , now I’m in love . Hand Covered Bruise is hypnotic.... I love this soundtrack ! Creative Geniuses

I just found this song too late. I love in motion

Not as stunning as other pieces.... While this soundtrack is definitely enjoyable, other pieces such as the "Inception" soundtrack I enjoy more. This album seems a little repetitive. In terms of originality, this is definitely the more original album, because of it's unique sound. However, I enjoy "Inception" more despite the fact that it is not as unique sounding as this album.

Reznor's Ingenuity. Trent Reznor has evolved so, so much during his career and I've always been a fan of his developments. This is an amazing score and I believe it was definitely deserving of the Academy Award. When Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor (who is from Nine Inch Nails, by the way) get together, they create music that speaks the emotions and the energy without a single word. Yes, it's electronic and synthesized. However, many people vastly underestimate the skill required to create good Electronic music. Furthermore, both of these guys are phenomenal musicians and play multiple instruments. This score is simple, but that was exactly what was needed for the film. I love the blend of electronic vibes with upbeat energy and the more ambient and dark tracks. It works surprisingly well. Love it! If you like this album, I recommend Ross and Reznor's first project: an experimental ambient series of albums entitled "Ghosts." You can discover more at the Nine Inch Nails website or through any search. But anyways, great album. Trent… you're the man.

Amazing opening song. Hand Covers Bruise set the tone for the entire movie. Never before have a paid attention to a movie's score. Reznor is able to capture raw emotion with his music. Made the movie even better than it was.

Learn from this soundtrack.. For those interested in trying out a soundtrack that is outside the box of string and woodwind crescendoes, buy this soundtrack. There is a beauty in the music that Reznor and Ross create here, it impacted every message that Fincher was trying to deliver. For the thousands, perhaps millions, of Nine Inch Nails fans this is thoroughly satisfying, for those who haven't delved into true composed synthetic symphony, try it out. There is no dominating force in music that decides what makes appropiate music, but this soundtrack shows raw emotion, just as well as an orchestra. Amazing soundtrack. This won an Oscor because of it's impact, not how it was created. And if you really think something this complex and layered was made in a garage, use the fantastic tool of the web to tour Reznor's recording studio. The man is a magician.

Simply Brilliant. Hi - I Love to Run and this is the perfect long run journey music. Love it!!

Terrible. I hate this score. There is nothing that would make me listen to it and give me goosebumps. I have NO idea why this won the Oscar. Hans Zimmer's score to Inception was AMAZING. It took my breath away, gave me goosebumps, it even inspired me to start making my own music. I don't know why people are saying, "It's traditional" . It is in NO way traditional. ALL of his scores are unique in every way. I do NOT recommend you buy this score. What I DO recommend is that you go and buy the Inception, Dark Knight, and Sherlock Holmes scores. Hans Zimmer's finest works of art so far. I GUARANTEE you wont be disappointed.

Eh....ok.... I love movie soundtracks! I personally like Hans Zimmer's stuff. This soundtrack (and movie) was great, but so not as great as Inception.

Amazing. Loved the movie and I love the soundtrack just the same, I've got 5 songs already and I'm thinking about buying the entire album soon, it's just that awesome.

Amazing. This album is truly amazing. A huge fan of the movie I delighted in placing each piece according to that moment in the movie. All the songs have something so haunting that I can't describe in words alone. The whole album is something every music lover should own.

Stylized or not there's incorrect static on these tracks. Hi, nearly all the tracks here contain high frequency static blips that do not sound intentional LP Phonograph sound effects or Techno/House texturing but more like you have just broken your tweeters. I've got some serious hi-fi equipment both in headphones and stereo equipment and even granted this is a 256kps .m4p there is something wrong with these songs. The static flutters happen using different speakers and headphones. Track number 8, "Pieces Form the Whole", clearly has sonic errors, there's no amount of artistic liberty that would justify what is being sold here. I believe this is why it costs $7.99 and not $9.99 or higher, iTunes or Null know about this. It's a bummer really, the soundtrack seemed excellent for the movie.

:D. YESSSSSSSS "In motion" baby!

Real Music?. This IS real music, as is orchestrated symphony...surprised to think some people who have a love for layered music cannot see the amount of layering involved in this. It's not just "computer sounds" haha Although, if it was I am sure that would still be music.

Hand Covers Bruise. I absolutely love 'Hand Covers Bruise'. This song belongs in the music databases of EVERYONE.

Here's the thing..... This album is a catch 22 for me.I see why they won the Oscar for this, the music fit the movie to the T (which is the job of a composer,to make fitting music for the film, and they pulled that off very well),and it sounds good! What I am wrestling with though is the fact that it doesn't seem like much work went into this. All it is is very simplistic repetitive synthesizers, analogs, etc. Ok so let's tally this up...1.most of the compositions are repetitive as can be (with a little build-up),2.It's all electronic (which is much easier than orchestral work),3.It took TWO guys to pull it off......this is stuff that LITERALLY I can do right here in my bedroom using Logic Pro 9,no joke. Then again that's what the movie called for I wouldn't have it any other way......but is it worth an Oscar? No not to me....not over Inception.

The Social Network. This is one of my personal favorite Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross soundtracks. This soundtrack has a great flow, track after track. Also, this soundtrack has great vocals, great drum solos, electric piano solos, upright piano solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next soundtrack and original score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Emotional. I must admit at first that I scratched my head with this album and with NIN's "Ghosts". I didn't really hear music. But I felt it. Not something that would make you move or implant an ear worm. It was more like being able to daydream and drift with the aural tapestry that engulfs you. After three or four listens, I heard the music. Much in the way if you listen to a waterfall or a steady rain. Trent and Atticus have crafted a dreamscape that slowly pulls you into it realm. Emotions run the gamut when you listen, and images will flood your mind creating a complete sensory experience. This is brilliant stuff indeed.

You Should Expect More...Especially if it managed to win an Oscar. As a person with strong musical interests, I listen to the music when I watch movies, and I regularly buy soundtracks. I watched The Social Network well after the Oscar ceremony. I was already fuming because Inception didn't win Best Original Score. As I watched the movie, I was struck by how techno-like the music was. I went to the iTunes store, and listened to the clips. It was a hard thing to do. First of all, the only track that is even remotely good is "Hand Covers Bruise". Then, the rest become very techno. I agree with the statement: "Glad you know how to work a computer." So they do. But what about the others? The other composers whose tracks had a unique feel to them and differed from each other is ways that showed creativity at its best? After a while, all of these tracks begin to sound boring and repetitive, like Reznor and Ross have run out of any new ideas, and are just trying to push this score past fifty minutes (and it runs past 66). The (minor) creativity only appears on the opening track. And to have this techno music coming from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have spent most of their careers working in bands with rock and techno music, there is no creativity at all. They've been doing it for most of their musical lives, and are doing what they know, not trying to do what they don't know (that's creative). If they wanted to try something original, then why not go for a more classical-like approach? Why It SHOULD NOT Have won that Oscar. a.) In 2008, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (who are both stunning composers) were disqualified from the Oscar competition for "Best Original Score" because there were two composers instead of one. b.) This is strictly my opinion: There is no creativity in this techno-based score, especially coming from Reznor and Ross. c.) This score made use of a PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED MATERIAL. "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" is not an original piece, and if reasons A and B aren't enough, then C should prove it. By Academy Rules, this score should be disqualified, because "Mountain King" was not an original work. (Edvard Grieg). Overall, this is probably one of the worst soundtracks ever written. It did not deserve the Academy Award--by Academy rules, as well. It was distracting in the movie, and I couldn't help but hope for the scenes where there was no music. To the person who mentioned that Hans Zimmer recycles scores like it's his job: No, he doesn't. Compare the intensity of Inception to "Science and Religon" in Angels And Demons. There is a remarkable difference. It is obvious that Hans Zimmer has diversity, and I'm saying that as a Zimmer fan, and as someone who composes music.

Extremely well done. With the exception of the ignorant Zimmer fanboy who fancies himself a musician (what a joke), the reviews here are all pretty accurate. Trent Reznor by far the most successful composer that I have come across when it comes to translating raw emotion into sound, and it shows. Because of this, the soundtrack fit in impeccably with the film and even without it, tells a story. I gave it 4 stars because it pains me to mark anything as perfect, which is what 5 stars should imply. (This is close enough that I wouldn't dare make any suggestions though)

Incomplete Tracks. I purchased this album and some of the songs are incomplete, how do I re-download the album without paying again?

for everyone wondering. the intro song where jesse and his gf are talking is called ball and biscuit by white stripes....and the choir song in the trailer is called creep by scala and kolacny brother. peace

Well,. I adore this score.

Fantastic. Love this album, best songs are Hand Covers Bruise and Gentle Hum of Anxiety - gives me the creeps.

Deserved the Oscar!. This score fit the film so perfectly and it propelled the movie to a place it might not have gone, had the score not been so prominent! It's inventive and so original. Even "In the Hall of the Mountain King" has a new, fresh sound to it! It's a very dark, cold score to fit a very dark, cold movie. It's become my favorite film score.

Not bad. I admit it's not bad. I think it goes well with the movie cause it's got that electronic sound in it. But in terms of actual entertainment it's not the best. But it's not the worst either.

awesome :3. This is a great soundtrack. And to all of the people complaining that the music is not good enough for the Oscar...are you kidding me? This movie was about the internet, remember? The music fits the movie and that's all that matters.

Hand Covers Bruise. Dahhhh da da, dahh da da dahhhhh.........BAAAAAAAHHHHH Sorry that's my musical interpretation! LOVE THIS SONG AND ALBUM Well done Trent and Atticus.

Social Network good or bad Academey Award Winner for Best Score. This score won the Academey Award for Best Original Score which was just fine by me but having it nominated along with Hans Zimmer's Inception and John Powell's How To Train Your Dragon or even Alexandre Desplat's Score for the King's Speech. Aside from that Zimmer should have been the winner of this award but i am a big fan of this film score dispite my favritism towards Zimmer, Powell, and Desplat.

Music moves forward. I write this after reading the many reviews that don't believe this should have won the Oscar for best Soundtrack because it did not involve an orchestral sound. Not all movies ask for an orchestra of instruments. This movie is based on a computer application that is changing the face of social media, hence Trent and Atticus's brilliant implementation of electronic based tracks. They won the award because it was original and fit the theme and mood of the film like a glove. To read that some people actually thought that the soundtrack to "How To Train Your Dragon" should have been in the discussion just tells me that some people love living in a bubble of 'what used to be.' The rest of us with actual music sense will enjoy the progression of music and how it can deliver raw and needed emotion for scenes within films. The average rating says it all.

Life changing. Listening to songs on here such as Hand Covers Bruise caused me to think about life its self. It just makes you think. Honestly, I love the soundtrack, it's fantastic!

where’s the music. None of the songs shown in the credits is on this album. Said it was on Null Records. What the deal?

Truly Amazing. This soundtrack is the greatest soundtrack I have ever heard, along with that, it is the greatest movie I have ever seen. Deserves more than just five stars.

This isn't techno idiots.. Trent Reznor= industrial.

Awesome. This is a great soundtrack. I don't know what you people are complaining about. Whoever said that it's "all electronic stuff", it's SUPPOSED to be. It goes with the movie. Computers are greatly involves in the movie, so electronic music is completely appropriate. I think it has great sound and lots of cool beats. Totally deserved the award it got.

Incredible. One of the best soundtracks... no... albums I have ever heard. It is beyond incredible. I have listened to it so much, and never gotten tired of it. If I could only have three albums to listen to for the rest of my life, this would be one of them.

Don't be stubborn.. If you really new what you were talking about, you would have watched the Social Network bonus features on blu ray on how they made the music. Oh, and quite frankly, orchestra music would have never fit in this film. It's a movie of innovation and success though the Internet, orchestra in it would have been stupid and awful. Oh and by the way. The song was remade by them, technically making it their song, just remixed.

Cool. Hand covers bruise and in motion are my favorite songs. I like how it sounds! I wish I culd buy it :(

What???. I don't think this soundtrack was really worth an oscar. Hans Zimmer's "Inception" Soundtrack should have totally gotten it or Alexndre Desplat's "The King's Speech". Who makes these decissions?

Best Soundtrack I've Ever Heard. I've always found most soundtracks, minus the Series of Unfortunate Events soundtrack, extremely boring. This soundtrack really pulled me in and I actually liked the music on it. It actually seems like something I would listen to. The whole album is definitely worth buying. Especially if you're a fan of things like Electronica and New Age; this is probably for you.

Masterpiece!. Never have I seen a movie that's soundtrack matches the emotions perfectly 👌 The music is an exact mirror reflection of the emotions captured in the film. Powerful pieces!

Ambient. Very ambient and electronic soundtrack. The tracks can vary from creating nice warm thin blankets of sounds or harsh and abrasive screeching. Regardless, I’ve never seen the movie, but I stumble upon this when I was in my late teens and it changed my perspective on what music can be, as I’d been endlessly listen to the radio searching for music that I really enjoyed at that time. Even though it’s not the best album by a long shot, it definitely played a key role in my life showing me that music isn’t just limited to quarter notes, scales, lyrics, or any traditional means of composing music.

Redefines the Soundtrack. Nowadays soundtracks tend to be massive orchestral arrangements that get louder and louder as a movie progresses. Many people mistake volume for emotion. So needless to say, I was very pleased when this soundtrack won the Oscar. The composers didn't rely on anything but a few instruments but managed to capture the essence of the film. Rather than blasting our ears out with a strings section, they used careful beats and some well placed piano to really rethink how an Oscar contender sounds. Well done!

Cannot go a day without listening to this.. My favorite score, my favorite movie. There's only so much I can say to show my love and appreciation. I fell in love with the soundtrack the very day I saw this, which happened to be the first day The Social Network was in theatres. It's fresh and original, which is why it caught my ear. Even the re-done version of In The Hall of The Mountain King has its own twist to it. It deserved the Oscar and it makes the movie complete. A fast paced movie needed the perfect score to make it whole.

Trent is a Genius!. Any NIN fan or non-NIN fan would enjoy this soundtrack... It's great to listen to while working; drawing, other artistic things. Definitely worth 7.99 for 19 songs.

Travesty!. Something has to be fixed when a score like this is able to win an Academy Award over the Inception score by Hans Zimmer. I would also argue that the score for How To Train Your Dragon by John Powell is far superior to this! A TRAVESTY!

Genius. There isn't one thing bad with this score. The thing interesting about it is how well it works with the movie. Without David Fincher at direction and this sublime score, the Social Network would have just been some easily forgotten movie with the actor from Zombieland. Genius is the only word to describe this score. It carries the film much like John Williams score makes Jaws identifiable. Sadly though I didn't like Trent Reznor's work on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo but thats just my opinion

The soundtrack to frustrated geeks. This soundtrack has blips, beats, haunting piano chords, and the screams of a guitar, which gives this soundtrack its unusual and disturbing sound. The music could convey mark zuckenberg's feelings of frustration, anxiety, and anger in a nutshell. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is good but it doesn't feel like it was properly executed, it feels like half of the soundtrack was a car chase background music and the rest were the sounds of the protagonist 's desperation to get back home. This soundtrack (social network) introduces the world of cinema two brillant composers, who made a soundtrack that's new and fresh.
