Ashes of the Wake. Ashes of The Wake is Lamb of God’s Third full length studio album. The album is decidedly more polished and cleaner than its predecessors, with producer Machine (that’s his name) taking the helm for the first time and really driving for clarity in a way previously unheard of on a Lamb of God album. Apart from the new cleaner production, the first thing you’ll notice about Ashes is the songwriting, Lamb of God hit onto the perfect formula for writing catchy singles and crowd pleasing songs that instantly feel familiar, that have hooks and that most importantly are highly memorable. While the earlier material was awesome, it was harder to familiarize yourself with and songs would take a great many listens before you understood how they worked or remembered what came next, with Ashes everything just clicks. The combination of a less brash production and more accessible songs may be unpalatable to some fans of the earlier output but its hard to deny the sheer quality of music. The musicianship is of the highest standard, head and shoulders above many of their peers both technically and creatively each Lamb of God member seems handpicked because he was the best in his field. The album is chocked full of career highlights from the excellent politically fused `One Gun,’ or the introspective `What I’ve Become,’ to singles `Now You’ve Got Something To Die For,’ and `Laid to Rest,’ nothing is ever short of excellent. Chris Poland once again returns with guest guitar contributions are once again welcome and don’t feel out of place whatsoever on the fantastic instrumental title track. Ashes of the Wake may have a more commercial production but its hard to complain when the music is this good

Blow your ears off amazing. The album is one of Lamb of Gods best. The album explodes in with the catchy punchy riff of laid to rest which will have you instantly picking up your guitar and running for a tab and as the album continues you wont be able to stop listening or put your guitar down. This is an amazing album and should be a no brainer buy for any metal fan. The great tracks on this album are Laid to Rest, Hourglass, Now you've got something to die for, Omerta, Ashes of the wake and Remorse is for the dead, but that is jsut the cream of the crop when this whole album sets a very high standard which all tracks follow. Lamb of God are amazing just buy the album.

Insane!!!. Easily one of the greatest metal albums EVER! "Laid to Rest" is the best song on here and you will not be able to help but headbang and scream along. Other highlights include "Now You've Got Something to Die For", "The Faded Line", "Omerta" and "One Gun". Buy it because your metal collection is by no means complete without this jewel of an album!

great album. this album is great, but i was very dissapointed to find that its not explicit, as all the swear wrods have been blocked. not that im being immature or saying that the swear are all i wanted to hear, but i feel that laid to rest, the first track of the album, has been destroyed by the blockings.

Mindblowing. Lamb of God are the sort of band you either love or love. From Laid To Rest, one of the most metal songs ever to Ashes of The Wake, with insane soloing and brutal rhythm chops, this album is essential for any true metal fan.

Best of the decade. This album is one of the best albums since 2000 so buy it!

Fantastic, yet slightly spoiled in editing.. Having bought The Sacrament and loved it, I came to iTunes looking for more. This album exceeded my expectations and provided another great album from Lamb of God. The guitars are tight and technical (just TRY playing those riffs!) and Randy's vocals are amazing in his harsh screams and growls. The only fault I found with this album was the cutting of swear-words. Despite the explicit labeling on opener "Laid to Rest", the swear-words have been cut out and left with a painfully obvious blank spot in the vocals. An otherwise perfect album just slightly ruined with the editing.

Now u got something to die for. Awesome

Lamb of God FTW!!. Definetly one of their best albums!! It's hard not to sing to any of these songs!! It's so good that Laid to Rest is in Guitar Hero 2!!

Amazing. As Soon as i heard the transition from clean to screams vocals on laid to rest, I knew this was going to be another good album
