So beautiful... This is the best christmas song. Ever. It is performed so well and the singing is just phenomenal! This is some great christmas music sung by an awesome artist. My only problem is that I cry a little every time I listen to it. Just so beautiful. Great job!

Heartbreakingly Beautiful Album. This is a must-have Christmas Album. I can't fully describe the feeling of this whole recording but I recommend listening to it for the first time alone at night in front of the fireplace and the lighted Christmas tree. I can't imagine anyone not being touched by Sarah's heartfelt, God-given beautiful voice that she lends to these new & classic tunes. Even the Christmas Hymns sound as if it's the first time you've ever heard them when she does "her thing" with them.

Buy it!. This is simply beautiful. Sara McLachlan has brought forth a wonderful addition to anyone's Christmas music collection. Buy this NOW! U won't regret it. It's my favorite.

This reminds me of Christmas 13 years ago.. I remember I bought this album and it reminds me of Christmas 2006. I remember my little daughter was 3 when this came out and now she’s 16. This will always remind me of Christmas with my little toddler that’s now a teenager. ❤️❤️❤️

I wouldn't bother to write a review unless it was amazing!. There is an awesome collection of songs on this CD that are so lyrical and touching. Sarahs vocals are, of course, amazing! The words to the songs aren't just shallow sentimental clap-trap. "River" is my favorite. This CD will definitely become part of your Christmas faves collection.

Best Christmas album. So many great memories around Christmas time with my parents playing this album - nothing but amazing vocals & production. The best Christmas album hands down.

Integrity!. Integrity means "fullness of parts." I so appreciate a Christmas album which truly celebrates the reason for this particular season... Christ. The original word means Christ's Mass. Many of the songs that were deemed as "dark" I would say are contemplative and tender. They bring sweet tears to my eyes and rest to my soul. I also like the human "memory songs" like I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS becauuse they touch on our shared cultural experience as well. It is one of my favorite Christmas albums of all time and should go down as a classic with longevity. Merry Christmas!

AMAZING!. I dont see this as only a Christmas album, I listen to it all year around, she has made the songs feel fresh and new, and original. This is one of my favorite all time albums.

Beauty is more burnished every year. I am so glad I bought this record...it's on heavy rotation in my house during the holiday season. I never cease telling people about how wonderful it is. It is a bit "darker" than other Christmas records, but as you grow older, hopefully you realize that the holidays are not just about stuffing your face and unwrapping presents, but also reflection, which is squarely where this music puts me. This is impeccable, and a classic just five years on from its release.

Wintersong is beautiful. While I'm usually skeptical of contemporary Christmas albums, I decided to give this one a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. From the onset, Sarah gives us her own beautiful spin on some of the classic tunes of the season. Her originals are so descriptive, subtle and beautiful that they too become instant classics. I can't recommend this album strongly enough.

my most favourite Christmas album evar!!!!!!!!. omg it's just gorgeously haunting!! it takes you away from all the christmas bustle and makes everything disappear and you're just left with winter and the music! it's so magical! Mary Mary/the first Noel gives me goosebumps as I shiver at it's haunting melodies. it's my lost favourite track on the cd. Sarah has such a gift! this is the most priceless album ever!

Peaceful, but too somber. This is a very peaceful collection. That was the most salient word that I was left with after my first listen through. An image of a quiet and snowy field outside a winter's window is conjured. On the downside, it is that peacefulness that makes it a drag on the yule tide feeling. It's teeters more on the depressed side than the peaceful at times. It's not lively enough and seems more for someone to drink alone to during the holidays rather than gear up for the season. Song by song, it's a mixed bag. Some songs are great. She sings beautifully throughout. Her version of Silent Night might be one of the best versions ever. On the other hand, her song The First Noel/Mary Mary is probably the very worst christmas song I've ever heard. It sounds like she tried to make a Christmas song for The Lion King. Terrible and anything but Christmasy. After a while though, as is always the case for me with her, you just get too much of her voice. One can O.D. on her voice after about 5 songs in a row.

So stunning, what an amazing body of work. Mary Mary is Sarah at her best. I heard that song and danced around and cried at the same time. She is just breath taking. A must have!

WHO DOES ITUNES HAVE REVIEWING THIS RECORDING??????. I am truly shocked by the itunes review of Sarah McLachian's WIntersong Album. What ARE they smoking? She is so freakin' musical ... her renditions of songs heretofore heard millions of times the same monontonous way are so brilliant and innovative in their musical integrity and balance .. As Bing's versions of certain Christmas Songs have survived the test of time and remain classics unable to replicated ... so will it be for Wintersong. A truly masterful Album.

Best Xmas Album of All. This is our entire family's fav Xmas album...and we have a wide variety of musical preferences.

Wintersong. I love Sarah McLachlan. She has a voice of an angel. This Christmas CD is amazing. I loved every song. The arrangements are great...and of course the vocals are beautiful. I look forward to playing Wintersong all year long. I do give this 5 stars!!!

I love Christmas Music but 1st time heard Depressing!!!. Sorry I love her she is a beautiful singer but OMG this is the most depressing Christmas Album ever! Talent has to be a little flexable and this was not a way to pay tribute to Christmas I am sorry I purchased. The music is????

Love this CD. I work at a natural foods store, and they play "River" even in the summer over the radio system. I could listen to this CD at any time of the year, not just Christmas. Great Stuff.

Amazing!. The best Christmas music ever :)

I got chills listening to this - and it's warm outside!. Simply amazing. Sarah never fails to deliver. I only own one of her albums, but after sampling these songs, I think I'll add this one to my collection. Nothing is over done and nothing is hidden through massive amounts of studio editing like some artists. This is just beautiful. Yeah, I'm getting this. It's a must-have.

Sigh. It's perfect.. Possibly my favorite Christmas album ever. Sarah's interpretations of old favorites are extraordinary, but her original songs are the best part. In "Winter Song" and "Song for a Winter's Night," she manages to combine wonder and beauty with sorrow and longing. It's an exquisite marriage.

River. Sarah's voice is absolutely perfect for this song. Her amazing abilites shine as she sings this passionate and moving song about her so-called river. Truly beautiful. Many have redone her song, but she's the only one who can really sing this song. Way to go!

Too Moody. The whole tone of this album is, well, sad. It's Christmas, for Heaven's sake. I want to hear songs that put me in the Christmas mood. These songs are almost depressing. It reminds me of all the reasons I might dread the holidays, and I don't need any help with that. Save the moody melencholy tone for the rest of the year.

Very low key and peaceful. I do enjoy this album, especially her rendition of The First Noel, sometimes you just want something a little different. She has a beautiful voice and I am really pleased that I finally got around to buying this album to add to my collection.

Gorgeous! Thank you Sarah McLachlan.. I grew up with the same Christmas songs played over and over by my mother to the point where I can't stand some of them anymore. This album is such a refreshing change! Thank you, thank you Sarah McLachlan, for making Christmas songs that are so wonderful to hear. What makes this album really wonderful is McLachlan's gorgeous voice combined with unique and beautiful instrumental compositions. She has also chosen some little played Christmas songs that are nonetheless great.

Fantastic. This is one of a select FEW entire albums I can listen to through the Christmas and winter seasons. It does not get tiresome; the songs are mellow and thoughtful. Very nice also for background music at a dinner party or for opening gifts. I could listen to "River" all year long. The whole album has maintained "favorite" status for several years now! A definite good buy!

Wow. This album is so beautiful. It may be melancholy, but sometimes people identify with a little lowness at the holidays. Sarah's version of "River" is the best, even better than the original. This is one of my favorite Christmas CD's - it is a must in the holiday rotation.

A masterpiece. Haunting...melancholy... her renditions speak to the deepest parts of your soul. Amazing.

A Year-Round purchase.. While this album has a great number of wonderfull christmas songs on it, the album can be listened to year round due to its haunting composition. At the moment, it qualifies for my favorite album of all time. The most striking thing about this music is how it can appeal to people far out of its "target range". Sure, teenage pop might sound poor to your ears, but it sells well in its target range. This album, however, reaches out to everyone, no matter their personality. I am about as far away from the target range as possible, (an athiest who enjoys techno music) yet I am shocked each time I hear River or any other song on the album.

No wonder suicide rates increase at Christmas time.... I never knew you could be depressed by Christmas music. But McLachlan did it! She made the most depressing and downtrodden Christmas album EVER! Horrible music! I wonder how anyone can actually appreciate life while listening to these whiny, half-drunk versions of such great songs! YOU RUINED CHRISTMAS SARAH!!

Hidden Gem. I just discovered this gem and I think it's a solid album. Has a lot of good songs, but it's not one u can just put on and let it go. Sarah's voice is soft and soothing. Awesome!

The Best Holiday album. I love the title track. It's such a great original Christmas song that doesn't focus on corny traditions and commercialism. Her versions of the classics are great as well.

Truly splendid!. Far from being lifeless as per the itunes reviewer, this recording is one of the freshest and most heartfelt Christmas efforts I have heard in quite some time. Excellent song selection and wonderful delivery. The arrangements and the delivery truly lifted me up into the real meaning behind the season. Bravo Sarah!

A Holiday Must. The album is great and her cover of Joni Mitchell's River is fantastic.

Christmas Angel. Just pulled this album out to listen to while putting up the Christmas tree and it brought me right back to Christmas 2007 right after my now 9 year old was born. It was an emotional time for many reasons but when I would put this album on and lay my newborn baby on my chest, the rest of the world would melt away. Her voice, that of an angel, would serenade us while I laid there listening to his every breath. Thank you Sarah for a timeless classic. 💙

Beautiful & Sad. I bought this album when it came out and I could not stop listening to it. I only listen to it around Christmas ( though it's great anytime of the year) and I really look forward to Christmas because I know I'm going to listen this album. Favorite song

Lovely. Gorgeous Christmas album- perfect

Sarah McLachlan: Wintersong. I LOVE this woman's work! This album is the non-tacky version of Christmassy songs to die for!

Pure Ice. This lady just keeps producing class album after class album. Put this on, pour yourself a long drink and sail away...

Christmas warmth. This album has an ethereal quality to it, thanks to Sarah's gorgeous, distinctive vocals. Her interpretation of some of the Christmas classics are sure to give you goosebumps. I had yet to hear a cover of John Lennon's classic Happy Xmas (War is Over), until now. She does it justice, lending a yearning tone to the song. 'River' and 'Song for a Winter's Night' are just right for curling up on the sofa with someone special! So grab a glass of mulled wine, relax and curl up to this album - log fire or not!

Simple beauty. Nothing over produced here, this album is Sarah at her most simple and her most beautiful. River and Winterrsong are melancholicly festive, whilst there is some fun to be had with have Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas to balance things out. Ultimately, this is is a slightly introspective holiday album, but that's want makes it different and special.
