WOW, what a gift for the fans. 80 versions of songs from my favorite album of all time? Yes, please! What a fantastic collection. Mastered from recently discovered studio session tapes, this collection brings together our old favorites, outtakes, studio banter, and some fantastic moments of the kids in the studio when they could just not hold it together. It's an amazing behind the scenes look into how a song is created. Exhaustive attempts at nailing the perfect "Christmas is Coming","O Tannenbaum" etc. You can hear Guaraldi's frustration with himself when he hits a wrong note. Some of the demos are unrecognizable to what made the final album. Theres a couple of all out crazy jazz creations that would have freaked out families in their living rooms at the time. There's a take on "Skating" that is so exciting with a brilliant wild drum solo that effortlessly leads back into the piano scales...stunning. I will say the full Super Deluxe is probably only for the true die-hard fans. The 2022 stereo remastering is incredible...loud, clear, warm. So if you don't need all the extras, still get the new mix.
