Hard Work and- Relatively- Drying Out Pay Off. In a lot of ways, Dr. Feelgood is the quintessential end-of-the-era album for the 80's metal scene. It's half sing-along hits, and half forgetable sleeze rock packaged under the veil of metal. Where you can blame Bob Rock for not focusing more time into the more forgetable tracks, you must also credit him for the success of the many hit songs that you know he must have spent an eternity perfecting with the band for days and days in the studio. Nikki has a lot to say here- the songs deal with addiction, love, and lust after spending a decade stoned, drunk, and out of control. There is a slight taste of an earned maturity and wisdom in the crafting of the somgs and subject matter overall . And Vince- seemingly digging the group's newly-open attitude to relative sobriety- sounds more enthusiastic and involved than ever. Tommy is as solid as ever and Mick's newfound love for hot rod Strats and Soldanos rockets the sound of the band to a new level. Where 'Dr. Feelgood' gets it right, it's perfect. There are a few songs that are lacking the maturity of the big hits, but come on... what are you gonna' do when Jimmy and Dr. Feelgood ask you to come play?

The end of an era. This album was Motley Crue’s swan song. It also coincided with the end of the best era of rock/metal ever. You can hear the band’s maturity and growth through out. It’s a shame that they never reached these heights again as a band. That said where else was there to go? After songs like Kickstart My Heart, Dr. Feelgood, Time For Change and such they proved their dominance of this genre of music. For those lucky enough to see them on this tour it was the ultimate concert experience. This was their swan song album and tour. And what an experience it all was. Thank you Motley Crue for ending the era with the ultimate bang.
