CHimes of Freedom. This album has the best version of Be True and Tougher than the Rest. I enjoy it very much!!
Chimes of Freedom. This is one of Bruce's best covers...too bad this version begind with some of his political rantings. When are artists going to let their audiences enjoy their music but allow us to decide our own politics?
Finally...the REAL Chimes of Freedom release makes it to digital.... Up to this point, while the LP and cassette versions of this EP were the complete live tracks, the songs "Tougher Than The Rest" and "Chimes of Freedom" had been chopped down so the EP could fit on the 1988-format CD-3 (as in 3 inch) single version. Even when the EP was reissued as a regular CD, the edited versions were used for that CD release, even though a standard CD could have held the full versions easily. Fortunately, iTunes had the good sense to get the full-length versions of both songs for this download release, in addition to the other two cuts "Be True" and "Born To Run-acoustic". In addition, this version only cost $3.96 for the whole batch, as opposed to the $5.99-7.99 pricing for the CD with the chopped tracks. Normally, the word "definitive" does not apply to mini-albums, but in this case, iTunes has put out the definitive digital version.
Chimes of Freedom. Love the song, but don't at all need the minute of Bruce talking to the audience at the start of the track. This wasn't part of the Pandora cut that brought me to iTunes.
Bruce Needs to Release More Live Albums!. Granted, Live 1975-1985 was an awesome archival look at Da Boss. But, Da Boss spent YEARS touring and each tour had their own stories, songs, and everything else. This EP is a great but teasing glance at Da Boss' '88 Tunnel of Love Tour-especially with the Acoustic Cut of Born to Run. But-Da Boss should release more live stuff! For example, this tour he premiered "Spare Parts"-with a story to explain it. How about a 25th Anniversary Chimes of Freedom Remix? Definitely worth your money to get this one though. I've been listening for the last 5 years.
chimes of freedom. awesome live versions of previously unrecorded songs by the greatest rock performer of all time
Only wanted one song.... Only really liked the acoustic Born to Run version, but figured it was an extra $3 for the other songs, might as well have them too.

Chimes of Freedom. I recommend this EP: the highlight for me was the version of His Royal Bobness's great tune Chimes of Freedom, and of course Bruce can perform it with much more power than Bob. Nice acoustic version of Born to Run, but you have to ignore the slighty annoying clapping of the audience. Moody version of Tougher than the Rest with some great harmonica playing!
WOW!!!!. What a great EP. Fantastic version of tougher than the rest and then probably one of his best out takes Be True. Best version of Chimes Of Freedom (better than Dylan's!) and a beautiful rendition of his smash hit BTR!!
Three Stars for Four Tracks. This is a shoddy little gem from an era long past. But the final track is a real rough diamond. A haunting rework of one of The Boss' biggest boldest anthems which turns the bluster of Born To Run into a plea. The other songs aren't bad. If you want to hear good live Bruce however, there are M.A.N.Y other albums more deserving of your time and money. That one track made it worth owning the record back in the day. Now thanks to iTunes you don't have to.
