The Best Marina Album, To Date. I've been listening to Marina Diamandis for a very very long time (Not Sailors Vs Mermaids long, but since TFJ released), and what's so amazing and special about MARINA's music is her usage of "Eras". Each album signals a new Era for Marina, a new part of her life, a new story. Which causes a lot of people to wonder "What? Why doesn't this sound like the last album?" When she creates new music. It's a big part of why lots of people loved Electra Heart, but were very confused once FROOT came out. That being said, Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land is my favorite album over all. Each song is a hit and bring up very important political commentary (A reason why this Era isn't for some people). The songs on the album (New America, Purge The Poison, Man's World) that do however, do it with excellence and get the point across very clearly without being uninspiring. The rest of the album, like many of her others, consists of ballads to herself (Goodbye), songs about human life (Highly Emotional People), and aspects of relationships that she hasn't previously explored (Flowers, Pandora's Box). Overall, 10/10. What a banger.

So concise. Self-penned, more women in the background, she’s working hard. She’s absolutely done it again for her fifth studio album. It’s fantastic and different but Marina.

BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER. Regardless of relentless online trolls who seem to never let up, Marina always manages to shine bright. With ‘Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land’ she puts every last naysayer to complete shame. This record is filled with explosively colorful and fearless anthems and on the flip side; heart-wrenching, soul-pouring ballads. Which is quite the refreshing callback to her ‘Marina & The Diamonds’ days. If there’s one thing you can count on with Marina, it’s her ability to create instantly classic sounding albums.

Too much politics. I just hear anger and too much “I hate men and America” I used to love her, but listening to this album, it honestly made me depressed. She has a right to write about her opinions and it’s just that. And this is just my opinion, it’s not her best album.

LOVE!. Sonically superb! But the lyrics are disjointed and disconnected and now sound borderline preachy and pandering instead of boundary pushing and confessional like on, say....Electra Heart with Teen Idle and Sex Yeah. Froot was the perfect balance of all things Marina, but still loving this album overall!

Marina provides excellence as usual. This is really Marina coming into her own. It almost feels like all her past eras are molded into one and have become something completely new on this album. REVIEWS: GIVE AN ACTUAL REASON. Firstly, I’m proud of Marina for how far she’s come musically. Her music has evolved so much and that’s what makes her an amazing singer, songwriter, and artist as a whole. Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land is definitely an album you’ll want to add to your collection! It even came out two days after my birthday. What a beautiful and lovely gift. Secondly, haters, if you’re going to leave a one star review at least give a good reason on why you think this album is bad. I don’t think you realize how bitter and ignorant you sound when you say things like “political trash!!” Or “this is what I was expecting.” Like what were you expecting? An album with lyrics that only caters to what your beliefs and views are? Plot twist, everyone has different beliefs than you. I’m an agnostic atheist but do you really think I mind when I hear Marina mention God in her lyrics? No, so get over yourselves.

Obvious and Preachy. Used to love Marina, but she's been sliding ever since she dropped the And the Diamonds. Her lyrics used to be quirky and creative. Now, they're just obvious and basic. Stating your sociopolitical POV on over half the songs is not good songwriting. Nuance is needed. Otherwise, it's like propaganda or a non-spiritual religious song. Sorry, Marina. Hopefully you'll find your old touch before the next album.

This Is MARINA!. This album feels like a Marina who is confident in who she is and shines for all the reasons her true fans love her. From her punchy lyrics to her distinctive vocals this album is one of her best.

Too much politic songs.. I love marina a lot but she is getting far away from the greatness she was before. She was at her peak with FROOT; her best work and one of the best albums. Love and fear is still a good work but this one unfortunately is not :(

great production/promote it. itunes and apple music needs to promote this album more! there is no reason why it should not be under the new music album catergory where albums get promoted so itunes put it there!

Enough with the Politics..... This comes from someone who enjoyed, and still enjoys, listening to Marina’s previous music albums. The mentality of ‘America bad-white men bad’ is SO 2016. If this piece of work (note how I don’t say ‘masterpiece’) is meant to be edgy and against the mainstream, I’ve got news for ya’ll-it’s anything but. The media, as well as entertainment, love to tout the ideological bile that is extreme, hard-core Leftism as if it’s this season’s trend of handbags. Marina, I think you to be super talented, but these batch of songs (along with their message) isn’t unique. And, of course, maybe that’s not your main agenda for ‘Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land’-maybe you just feel strongly about your political stance and whatnot, so you just want to express such (and, go ahead, an artist should be able to release that in which inspires/motivates him or her, even if the overall message feels like a piece of gum in your hair). If you want to sing to the choir, contribute to what is the loudest voice in the room (amplified by the establishment), and follow in line with your peers....Well, all I’ve got to say is,” You do you”.

Love love Marina. Kind of disappointed this album isn’t getting the attention it deserves. This is my favorite album to date front her 10/10 I’m gonna be mad if this’ll doesn’t win best album of the year. I just bought this album recently and it’s been on repeat all summer.

Not her best. I’m not someone who really listens to lyrics. I’m mainly drawn to vocals and the melody of songs. A man’s world is probably my favorite song in that regard on this album, but songs like hit like I’m a Ruin and Gold are sadly missing. Not her best album, and some of the songs are sounding too much the same.
