The Adult Album I Always Hoped Taylor Would One Day Write. “Evermore" is a brilliant assemblage of messy adult emotions covering love, anger, depression, resignation, and hope. Gone is the Maschine-driven power pop of “1989", “Reputation”, and “Lover”, replaced with an almost spoken-word delivery and sonic production palette full of organic instrumental textures that offset the cutting honesty of Taylor's lyrics. The absolute standout track is “Closure”, a jerky, quixotic 5/4-meter masterpiece punctuated with an acid-washed metallic percussion kit that underpins a soft-pedal acoustic piano and Taylor’s controlled, conversational, brutally frank vocal. Its narrative revolves around the singer’s outright refusal to grant the singee a simplistic mediagenic public resolution to their past-tense intimate relationship by exposing the singee’s request for “closure” as a cynical, selfish attempt at reputation management in one of the album’s finest couplets : "I know I'm just a wrinkle in your new life / Staying friends would iron it out so nice.” As the sound of musical wreckage keeps time underneath, Taylor embraces her “spite” and “tears” as the only useful remnants left from a union gone bad. “I don’t need your closure,” indeed. Overall, “Evermore” is Taylor's “Nebraska”, a masterwork of songwriting and production in which Taylor sets fire to her brand and reinvents as an unfiltered truth-teller transitioning from celebrity pop-star to a music artist of her own making. “Evermore”—and its companion, “Folklore”—are sets that will long stand the test of time. Turning 32 never sounded better.

Folklore’s sister is amazing!😍. She has done it again, single handedly saving us from such a horrible year. This record is very consistent. Has a lot of stand out songs for me and definitely deserves more recognition than it is getting.

TAYLOR IS A BREATHTAKING LYRICIST GENIUS. It makes me INCREDIBLY disappointed to see all these negative reviews. Most of you are probably misogynistic middle school boys who didn’t even listen to the album. This album is one of Taylor’s best. It makes me so happy that I have gotten to see her continually grow as a songwriter. If you really cared to listen to the lyrics, you would understand what a brilliant and deep album Evermore is.

Best Albums, Ever...literally. I love movies and music. Maybe more so than anything else out there. I listen to all types of music, and watch all types of movies. They almost always entertain, but what is it about the ones that feel overly inspiring? What is it about these certain songs as of late that have me listening and listening and listening on repeat. Why am I still crying when I hear them after the 10th, 20th, 100th, 200th time? Why do I feel like they are speaking to me in a certain way, or that they came right when I needed them? I’m not sure if it’s Covid, or if it’s something else, but ever since the albums Folklore and Evermore came out last August and November, I’ve listened to nothing but them; literally nothing. There is something about the instrumentation, the lyrics, the tone; everything. The albums are weaved with love, longing, regrets, hope, contempt. They paint vivid pictures of lives that were, that are, or that could be. I really am struggling to find the appropriate words to fully encapsulate everything they entail. I feel inspired and hopeful, grief and guilt, heartbreak and agony, joy and nostalgia. It’s a literal rollercoaster of emotions as I make my way through each track. Even listening to it as I write this, it invokes such strong emotions as soon as the first note of each song is played. I know not everyone feels this way when music plays. I wish they did. Some people would read this and think I’m such an idiot, or such a 12 year old girl. I hear it all the time. But I don’t care. People who say things like that just don’t get it, and these albums aren’t for them. For me these albums are the epitome of perfect, and my two favorite Taylor albums of all time. Don’t get me wrong, she has other amazingly good albums. She’s a beast when it comes to lyrics and songwriting. Even the songs that some would consider the ‘fluffy” songs on previous albums are strewn together with some of the best one liners you’ll ever hear. Her other albums may have been a bit autobiographical at times, but its still the story of “us”. We are all so alike in our human experiences that a breakup is a breakup is a breakup, a cheater is a cheater is a cheater, love is love is love. It doesn’t matter in the end. Folklore and Evermore tell new stories. Ones we haven’t heard before, yet seem so familiar. People we haven’t met, but feel like we’ve known our entire lives. Maybe even a Taylor that we haven’t met. The one that she keeps to herself in private. In any regards, I would recommend both of these albums to your friends who are audiophiles. The friends who “get it” when it comes to music. They are nearly perfect, and are at the top of my favorite albums of all time.

Do not bother buying. Been to several Taylor Swift concerts, downloaded all her albums, and always bursted her music in my car. However, these past three albums have made me realize I should be putting her back on the shelf. All these songs are very boring and you cannot tell the difference between them. Very sad how some artists never quit at their prime.

Evermore is like coming home after a long day of work and slipping into the coziest pyjamas and drinking tea (which I do while listening to this album). Musically, evermore is stunning. Lyrically, evermore is stunning. I absolutely cannot say enough great things about this album. The intersecting storylines are so addicting. You want to try to understand everything. Evermore all in all was like a big musical hug which like folklore, I needed.❤️ I love you so much Taylor.
