Zappa (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack to the 2020 film Zappa, with a score written by John Frizzell. It is the 118th release from Zappa or his Family Trust, released on November 27, 2020. It captures complete versions of every song and performance used in the film including interviews. Discs 1 and 2 capture the soundtrack and Disc 3 captures the score and 4 more tracks from the soundtrack. Songs are mostly by Zappa or his band The Mothers of Invention. Alex Winter started the documentary project WHO THE FUCK IS FRANK ZAPPA!? in 2015, crowd-sourcing the money. It quickly gained $1,200,000, becoming the most funded Kickstarter project of all time. The film was quickly accepted by the Zappa Family Trust, who let Winter access The Vault for archival footage. All of the music on the soundtrack has been officially released before, except for the June 23, 1968 performance. In 2020, the film was announced as simply Zappa and gained a limited theatre release on November 23 of that year.
