Evolving OMAM sounds worth every penny. Yes, this album is different from their original sound, but who said artists should get stuck with their original successful creations and not experiment ever again? This is a great album that stands on its own merit. Don't knock it just because it's "different". I still find enough of their unique sound in here that takes me back but at the same time I find new musical landscapes that make this album very enjoyable. Listen to it a few times and it will grow on you - all good music takes time to "sink in". Peace

Disapointed. Judge for yourself! The experience is not as pleasant as there first 2 albums!

So grateful OMAM. At last! Can hardly wait for Fever Dream in full! Alligator is fantastic... repeat repeat! Every song on each album is rapturous in sound, rhythm and poetry. Deep, heart opening music of the soul. Thank you

Too poppy!. I prefer their original sound! This sounds too contrived. Too poppy. Alligator, Waiting for the Snow and Wild Roses are the only songs I like. The rest are okay. Rororo sounds like Taylor Swift who I’m not a fan of.

Impressive, mature work. OMAM's third studio album sees the band stretching their musical and songwriting muscles into some new territory. Pulling away from the gentle dream-folk of their first two albums, FEVER DREAM swings for the fences with beefed up instrumentation, more agressive rhythms, and a more direct sound in the vocals of both the co-lead-singers. Harcore fans may be disappointed with this album, and view it as "selling out", but thankfully, all of the things that made OMAM great are still there, and even better. Both vocalists, Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir and Ragnar Þórhallsson, both have polished and gotten comfortable with belting morte agressively, and it shows throughout the album. The lead-off single Alligator, is a perfect example!

Trop générique. Il manque à cet album le son caractéristique qui les démarquaient des autres groupes. Ce n’est pas mauvais mais le style s’apparente à ce qui se fait en général.

Yeah!. Still monsters of men going strong

Très Pop. Vraiment différent de ce qu’on est habitué d’entendre d’eux. La catégorie devrait plutôt être Pop qu’Alternatif. Alligator s’écoute bien !

Fantastic new song!. After 4 long years, Of Monsters and Men are finally back. Alligator is an incredibly energetic, rhythmic song that packs a huge punch. Just imagine them opening the tour every night with this one? Wow.

Fantastic!!. Great single!

Pop much?. 3 years to create this pop garbage? C’mon guys.

Soooooooooo good.. This is certainly a slightly different direction for this great band. After 2 or 3 listens you begin to appreciate the talent they have put together. Saw them live late last year and they did 4 songs from the new disc. I have always said some great band may lack in quantity, surpasses everyone with their quality. Examples would be Red Box who have only 4 albums over 20 years and Peter Gabriel who has 6 over the last 40 years.

Still OMAM.. Yes, this album is “different” from their original album, and it is more upbeat. However, they spent a lot of time making this album; how can you expect a band not to change over so much time? They were experimenting, having fun, and doing what they wanted to do. I would rather them create music with no pressure than feel they have to continue doing something they dislike in fear of upsetting everyone else. They are still the amazing band that they are, and you can still appreciate their talent through the new album.

Growing on me..... Well having read the media reports I wasn’t hopeful. Actually I think it coloured my first listen and I felt disappointed at the loss of what was before..... and then to my surprise I am listening to it constantly. If you go with the direction shift there are so many layers in here. It’s actually very clever and seductive. Maybe a little too produced at times.

Already know I’ll love the album. Love all their songs and judging by their first song from their new album i know it’s going to be amazing.

They’re Back!. Love Of Monsters & Men! They have totally knocked it out of the park with this first single off the new album. Cait wait to hear the rest! 🙏🏻

AMAZING!. This album is amazing along with my favourite songs: Wars, Alligator, Wild Roses And Ahay along with the others. This album gets 10 scores out of 10

Missing the magic. Loved both their previous albums and have been eagerly anticipating this offering but sadly I’m left feeling a tad disappointed. It seems that OMAM have traded their folky surreal vibe with a more mainstream synth heavy offering that for hides their potential beneath too many layers of sound. The vocals and lyrics are often lost beneath electronic layers which are overdone and unnecessary. Overall I think they have tried to hard to follow trend and lost the previous sophistication and uniqueness that I liked about them. Its not entirely unlistenable but not one I will have on repeat like I still do with Beneath the Skin.

Another great album. Having really loved the previous albums, I am pleasantly surprised by this follow up album. Whilst it is a departure in musical style, I love the tracks and cannot stop playing it. 😁😁

Paul Shep. A slightly different style but no less brilliant - bands evolve and their fans with them. This album gets better with every listen and will be amazing live.

Absolute class. Major change from previous two albums sound wise. Loved listening to it, will grow on you as well with repeated listens. Really dont know how you can review when only one song had been released prior to release.

Alligator. Quite a different sound from the first song off the album. Big bold and brilliant. A proper rock song. 5 stars without question

Why complain?. It’s an excellent pop album from an excellent band, who cannot be categorised as one genre because they’re continually experimenting with new sounds. Just because the album is pop - and well-done pop at that - doesn’t mean it’s somehow less culturally valuable than previous albums, or that OMAM are ‘pop now’. Remember when Marina reinvented herself sans The Diamonds? Remember ‘Orange Trees’? At least OMAM aren’t using that worn-out ‘tropical’ beat and keeping their lyrics tame. They’ve grown. We should be proud of them.

Utterly brilliant. I read some of the reviews that were saying that they liked the first two but didn’t like this with disbelief. Music is a very personal thing but you can’t dismiss the quality of this album because it differs from what went before. It’s a brilliant example of progression with beautiful song writing that will stand the test of time. This band deserves great credit for three such high quality albums. Personally I can’t wait for the next

Fresh.. OMAM extended hiatus might have given pause but the group’s quick announcement of a new album with tour dates brought all the waiting-with-bated-breathe fans out of the water. The group are back with a more upbeat euphoric/anthemic album to match the vocal harmonies of Nanna and Ragnar. This time Ragnar gets as much album time as Nanna and the overall effect production seems tighter and more refined. The worse case scenario was to reprint their previous two albums again but the sound and genre changeups have shown that band are more than one-trick-ponies. Nanna’s voice is on top form, with belting choruses and elegant control to contrast with Ragnar’s gentler, roaring, and deep folk voice. Their nationality is written all over this album, like a soundtrack to a Icelandic dark-fantasy/fairytale. There are also some undercurrent electronic themes throughout the album that pops in and out in specific songs. It does also feel like during their hiatus they listened to a smorgasbord of different genres and music from their contemporaries. Including some of the bigger mainstream bands. However they haven’t pandered, they’ve taken notes with awareness on particulars of each genre and decided that they too wanted a veritable smorgasbord of a followup album to break preconceptions and expectations. This is where they want to develop which for some hardcore fans will be difficult to accept but for more appreciating fans will enjoy. There’s something for everyone on this album, you just have to give it time.
