Dull. A big letdown after his remarkable previous album.

Slow burn, outstanding. James Blake doesn’t hit full impact on first listen. He is the type of artist you sit with and let the music envelop you over time. This is a true work of art.

a·cous·tic /əˈko͞ostik/ adjective 1. relating to sound or the sense of hearing.. Great Electronica amplified melodies and beats mixing Plus Vocal acoustic sounds!

Hello beautiful music. Soothe my soul why don’t 'cha? This music is what I can listen to while researching, driving, thinking, relaxing, jamming, cooking, thinking...you name it!

James Blake is the phenomenal. His music is not just music but an experience. I could feel the dopamine release when this album was playing. He is the most influential artist of our time. This album is so important!

Great Album. Some songs weigh it down but it’s a great project

Finally The Man Has Returned. I cannot express how much I love this guy. His music is just so mellow and mesmerizing at the same time.. it literally puts me in a trance...

Beautiful Album ❤️❤️❤️. This is my first James Blake album experience and I gotta say this is something fresh, something exciting to listen to because the sound is not typical. The aesthetics are weird, but very VERY GOOD! I Love it! ❤️

That one song*****StaffSound. In my exuberance for this one song, I dropped an expletive in my previous review and iTunes stopped it at the gate. So here I go again. This album, like Blake’s other albums, misses the mark for me as a whole, but as I have reviewed on Blake’s last two albums, “The Colour in Anything” and “Overgrown,” there is that one song that knocks it out of the park for me. This album’s genius shows up on the last song, “Lullaby for My Insomniac.” The beauty lies in how the minimalist keyboard notes begin, then fade out, only to be seamlessly replaced by Blake’s own harmonic chants that mirror the keyboard, almost fooling your mind that the synthesizer has been replaced at all. Hypnotic and baroque-like, James Blake has truly saved his best for last, and again leaving me a song that will beacon me and haunt me year in and year out, and never tires me. Take a chance on this song and play it at your most vulnerable time of day or night and he will not disappoint.

:). I’ve been listening to you for years. You have endless talent, don’t ever change your style ♥️

Absolutely gorgeous. A testament to his true prowess as an artist. Such a beautiful album so perfectly in line with his others.

Sounds depressing. No more depressing music for me

A masterpiece. Please give every track a minimum of 3 listens before making a decision.

Good start to 2019. I just started getting into James Blake after hearing “If the car beside you moves ahead”, and I was hooked. I don’t know how Assume Form compares to his other works, but this is great. Before this album came out, I saw some of the features included Metro Boomin, Travis, and 3 stacks, and I was amazed at how well they did. Metro’s beats are usually too stripped back for me to appreciate, but he really outdid himself here. Blake worked really well over these Metro beats. Travis did phenomenal on here as well. And hearing 3 stacks with fast flows over a trap beat was an experience. Overall really good album, can’t wait to explore more of James’ discography!

Really?. How is this electronic music? just a buncha ballads? c'mon iTunes, do an inspection on genres before labels or artists label their music as something it's not.

Mcelligotts pool gives it 5 Stars! ✅Much Love and God bless!. You have to endure the burden in order to endure the blessings! Support live music!

Beautifully classic. 💯❗️

👍. great step forward, could’ve done without the features, but nonetheless its still a good album.

Brilliant. I wish I could buy it again

I’ve been waiting for you James. Genius!

assume form. this is going to be a beautiful piece of art, james blake is giving us the album of the year already

Amazing album!. I love this album a lot! Lots of amazing instrumentation, emotions, and lyrics. It’s only January and this is already one of the best albums of this year!

He didn’t assume form, he created it.. This album shows transparent progression in my opinion. It’s fantastic. To clearly weave different sounds together the way he does, is a treat that some people’s ears have been looking forward to, from any artist. Absolute magic.

He’s the new freaking Freddy Mercury of this generation. Watch Bohemian Rhapsody and tell me you won’t agree by the end. James Blake nailed this album. He’s pulled together artists and genres that wouldn’t normally go together. Created something so beautiful and addicted to listen to. Just like lead singer Freddy Mercury!!!! 😍😍

James Blake keeps us all grounded. His music keeps up grounded right where we belong. Such beautiful melody and harmony. When I listen to his music, I feel human again. I want to love everything and everyone. I want to hold my woman. I want to hold my children. We listen to his music together. I can go on and on but if you listen to his music, experience his talent, it truly speaks for itself.

Melody is alive. Goosebumps. Thank you Mr. Blake,

A Disappointing James Blake Album. On his latest record, James Blake’s musical style takes a turn for the worse. The instrumentals throughout the album are mostly interesting, but more interesting than good. Although this is probably Blake’s most accessible album to date, it is also his most unmemorable. Many of these songs aren’t horrible or aggravatingly bad, but rather dull and quite forgettable. “Into the Red”, “Barefoot in the Park” and “Lullaby for My Insomniac” are all bright spots on this LP, but tracks like “Can’t Believe the Way We Flow”, “I’ll Come Too”, and “Power On” are some of the worst songs James Blake has made in his career. What I find to be most disappointing about this album are the cheesy, lovesick lyrics littering each track of the album. James Blake has never been a great lyricist, but the lyrics featured in this album are laughably bad. Finally, the features on this album such as rappers Travis Scott and Andre 3000, don’t add much to the album; in fact, they make it worse. What was most appealing to me about James Blake’s sound on previous records was lonely, wintry aesthetic found in his songs. Adding rappers and singers ruin his sound, in my opinion. Overall, this record was pretty disappointing and is not something I see myself listening to again.

OMG 😍. Words can’t even express how I’m feeling right now. I’m so excited for the new album. I’ve been waiting for this. James Blake is really the most unique artist of this entire generation. No one else sounds like him or has this style of music. Can’t wait to listen to this masterpiece.

My ears, my heart. Ugh he never disappoints... thank you for real music James. You connect to each melody in different ways.

Beautifully new. James never ceases to amaze me with every project comes new life. This album seems to be like a breaking point for him, a launch threw the ceiling and a path to a new era of his music. His voice is as succulent as always and his boldness to try new things has really impressed me. This album has the taste of the old James but I’m glad he’s made something new and bold. Splendid album

NOt bad.. Not too generic for a good LP!

true artist. after obsessing over James Blake for years, enjoying everything he creates, he finally tops everything and fills every want and desire I’ve ever had, generously giving us tons of vocals and melodies to devour and enjoy for years to come. This is THE album I only dreamed that James Blake would create for us.. and here it is.... Musical euphoria

<3. been listening to James Blake since the release of The Colour in Anything and words can’t describe how much I love his music. I am ecstatic for the release of this album omgggg. I can’t wait to see him in March in LA!!!!

UGH... Ugh. So far so bad. One obligatory star.

This album is FIYAH. James, Bro, Brother, Broham...this album here is fiyah!!! This is for audiophiles or anyone that enjoys good music. The way he meshes synthesized sounds with chords and dope beats is unbelievable! Songs get more complexed and amazing as the album flows from track to track.

superb!. your mind! instantly one of the best albums

Over and over. So beautiful it makes me want to cry. Layers and layers. Depth. True love.

Quality. Absolutely mental give it a go

Just excellent. Beautiful 😍

Vast & Vunerable.. Often typecast as the “Sad Boy’ James Blake’s 4th album breaks down the facade and reveals a hit of 2019. A moody and introspective electronic volume of vulnerability and great sampling showcasing his producing skills and strong lyrical work. The album reverbs with an almost romantic nuance which can come off as contrived but after a few listens it gives way to being lingering and unforgettable. Lyrically he recalls on previous relationships and his time between albums as he developed work for other mainstream artists. It’s his strongest work yet, profiling tours, life and loves.

Anyone on a computer!. Literally anyone could have pieced this together in a bedroom. The Bland magic of Midi. The industry has done it's usual of multiple "collaborations" so already existing fan bases will buy it. Completly unremarkable.

too eager to tell us he's happy now. unfortunately contaminated by elements that water down what had made James Blake timeless until now. He left "the ether" and his own perfect personal dimension to join pop culture. Very disappointing.

His most mainstream album to date!. I adore James Blake his sound is so unique and his albums are just amazing late at night with a bottle of wine and chill out! His new album has taken a new direction, but does not disappoint, he takes you on modern and new adventure, still with his incredible electronic sound! Honestly listen to it and appreciate something so different to the everyday chart rubbish!
