Lush. I was not and never will be a big fan of Power Windows but I happen to like this album much better. At least the first side. This album looks and sounds much warmer than the previous album. It feels more human and less steely and robotic. The first two songs are quite good, as are Second Nature and Prime Mover, and I quite like Lock and Key as well. But the second half has some weak and forgettable songs on it. Lifeson’s guitar is buried in the mix, sadly, and his guitar was such a big part of the Rush sound for years. At one point during the song High Water, Lifeson plays a big mighty guitar riff that sounds a bit like Bacchus Plateau. Why couldn’t he play and sound like that more on this album? At any rate, I still like this album. Three and a half stars.

Very ok album. There’s a few decent songs on this album, but really the only thing that stands out is ‘Time Stands Still’: one of the best Rush songs of all time. The rest of the songs? Meh, but that song makes the album.

Fell in love with the new sound. At first I wasn't sure about it but my God it does grow on you the true talents of these great musicians really show and I became a big fan of this album and is part of my collection and Ipod favs.

From A Lifelong Rush Fan. It's not appropriate to say the music is *bad*....it's not bad music and it is Rush. Personally, I think the album stinks as it relates to Rush. The "sing speak" Geddy employs is very monotonous and the fat slabs of introspective song craft are, to me, boring and lifeless. I am a huge, lifelong fan of Rush and I saw this tour. Subjectively, this album is a stinker in my opinion.

To Neil. One of my earliest memories is drumming to “Tom Sawyer” on the seats of my mother’s car on the way to daycare. Even as an eight year old, it was apparent to me that Neil’s drumming was something special, powerful. He was the spark that hit a lifelong fire for the drums and music. I’m not alone in this realization. That young boy from Iowa could have never imagined the friendship to come with Neil Peart. He shared his adventures motorcycling, sailing, touring, and drumming. Every day ended with a Macallan and lots of laughter. More than all of this, Bubba was there for me when my dad died of cancer. He brought me In-N-Out after I got creamed on my motorcycle. He’d meet with Make-a-Wish kids in secret, play drums with them, and take them for milkshakes. He was that kind of dude. Extraordinarily kind, even after the universe took everything from him. He left our world a better place then he found it. “The measure of life is a measure of love and respect, So hard to earn so easily burned In the fullness of time, A garden to nurture and protect (It’s a measure of life) The treasure of life is a measure of love and respect, The way you live, the gifts that you give In the fullness of time, It’s the only return that you expect” Neil wrote these lyrics for the last song on the last Rush album. To the last... you measure up, Bubba.
