Typical AIC! Never disappoints!. Amazing album! Loved the first couple cuts realease before the full album dropped. I love all the songs on this album but the standout for me is Deaf Ears, Blind Eyes. It has that haunting, classic AIC melody in it. The harmony vocals are what really make AIC stand out from the rest of the pack. Great work guys! Keep the hits coming!

Love this record!. I read a few reviews from people who keep comparing the newer AiC to the Layne Staley days. I loved those songs too but the AiC V2.0 is top quality as well. Cantrell is the one responsible for how the music sounds and DuVall has been a great addition. Jerry Cantrell wanted someone who matched him on harmonies which he does very well and has a great lead voice in his own right. And as he also happens to play guitar this gives them another dimension live that they didn't have before. If you enjoyed the last two records this will not disappoint you!

Good. Been waiting for this one. IMO Never Fade should have been the main single

Garbage. This band can’t put out one decent jam. Good thing I wasn’t holding my breath for this album. Can’t ever recreate the original band so Change the name and do something different like pumping gas or parking cars. Only band that still is holding it together and pumping out insane jams is Enuff Z Nuff. True Rockers. Only way I would go to an AIC concert is to feel up chicks.

I don’t know how they do it. They may have peaked in the 90s but AiC are still top-tier and this album is one of the best releases of 2018.

Wow. just Wow

Pretty good. It’s ok, I still miss Layne :___(

Love it!!. Love it!!!

Rainier Fog. Been looping it in my car since I got it!! Best Yet!!

Pains me to say.... ... but this by far the most mediocre AIC record. I’ve forced myself to listen over the last few months and every time I’m left feeling pretty underwhelmed. There’s not much to make me want to return to it.

LOVE IT...... Huge ANC fan, was so crushed when Lane died; but the guys have been kicking A - -! The last 3 albums have all been true to ANC; especially Black Gives Way to Blue. If you haven’t bought that album; please do yourself a favor! Love y’all

Don’t review an album based on 1 song. After listening to the album a few more times I had to bump my reviews up a star, this album gets better the more you listen to it, I’m not sure if I’ll bump it again but it’s definitely growing on me.

Amazing Chains. This is easily the best album of the new-era AIC. The songs are just killer from beginning to end. Shades of the classic sound but they take it to another level with the twin guitars. Just a phenomenal album all the way around.

Good record. Jerry Cantrell is still the strong prescence he was a long time ago. Yes the songs seem similar but the melodies are incredible and his guitar tone kicks but!

Rainier Fog. This is an excellent album from start to finish. William DuVall steps up with the vocals, and as always, Jerry Cantrell’s harmonizing is excellent and on point. Five stars!

Always Good. Fly and Maybe drag you in, reminiscent of Jar of Flies - if you like that sort of thing (who doesn’t?). The rest of the songs are classic AIC, a-la-three legged dog and Dirt. This album holds its own against the last two - and also against the original catalogue. AIC is one of those bands we have to just be thankful for - they continue to put out top-notch albums no matter what.

Disappointed. Geez what ever happened to the standout songs that made these guys great like Rooster, Stay Away, No Excuses, Again, Them Bones and many more? Everyone of these new songs sound the same and none of them are that good. This will be the first AiC album I do not purchase although it really should be the second or third. I just can’t get on board with their scratchy boring repetitive new sound. Do dissatisfying!

Live!. I can not wait to hear these songs, live, this October. AIC rules!!

Why?. It is as though they are trying their hardest to make b-side tracts that sound like the originals which were not that good in the 90s. Nothing on the level of Man in the Box, Rooster, or Down in a Hole.

Don’t listen to critics. We live in an era where critics on movies, games, and music only scratch the surface with their reviews. They leave the consumer with a false impression of the product. Example: The Last Jedi. Listen to the true fans, not the whiny critics. This is modern AiC and it’s great. William does lead vocals on 3 songs. The rest are either shared or lead by Jerry. There is more focus on this album and the message is more saturated in the reality that fans have a hard time accepting who AiC is now. If you don’t like this album, you don’t like Alice In Chains. Move on. Go listen to Taylor Swift or Nickelback.

This is it chief!. After the last two albums, I didn’t expect much out of this one. But it is really good. No need to skip any songs because they are all great. And what a way to end it with that last song All I Am, so creepy and so good.

Never disappoints!. Still making great music!

I'm with Andy1980s!. I also have struggled to like the last 3 albums. They are good. And it has nothing to do with the singer. I miss the crazy time changes and diving into insanity like on the 1st two albums. I want twists and turns and not drag. Drag a little, maybe...but not the whole album.

Harmonizing. Ok, let me say, the original Alice in Chains was an all time favorite. Contrasting that band with the current iteration has really made me analyze my tastes. In a word, harmonizing. Hate it. From the first time I heard the Beatles, through the Greatful Dead and Eagles, down to the Hooters; horrible. What was so compelling about the Staley version of AiC was the contrast between the voices. One was all angst and anger, the other resignation and depression. Now we have a drone in harmony (odd, they even named a song after it). I don't know what Jerry was thinking when he hired a sound-alike, but what was the point? Sort of like Simon hiring another Simon rather than a Garfunkel. Weird.

SM. M M D Did DddddM Diddsd

Great. Tracks were very enjoyable. Very impressed.

Fantastic. The album is fantastic from start to finish!!

Wow. Best AiC album post Layne

Disappointing. I was a huge fan of Black Gives Way to Blue and The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, but Rainier Fog is surprisingly exceptionally bland. I really don’t know what else to say about it. Still a phenomenal band, but I just ignore this one.

Alice in Chains does it again...Great album!!!. Love, love, love, this album!!!! Can't figure out which is my favorite song. Love them all!

"Jerry's Version of AIC?". AIC has always been Jerry's version of AIC. AND Sean's AND Mike's AND Mike's AND Layne's AND William's.

Chewey 62. Dark thats what i feel lyrics and music are Perfect together. Very impressed by Williams influence on this one GOOD JOB🍺🍺🍺🍺

AIC👍🏻. So Far Under!!! Sounds like an old school one. Great!

Best band rebirth since AC/DC. Yeah, I went there. If Back in Black through Flick of the Switch were a great trio of albums after tragically losing their front man; I put these three AIC albums right behind them. It's the kind of music you need to soak in for a few listens and then it starts to click. Not sure this is up their with Black Gives Way or Devil...time will tell. "Maybe" is a great tune and tracks 8 and 9 are a welcome dive back into more of a classic, hard driving grunge sound.

Best album. With or without lane Staley there still good r.i.p lane Staley gone but not forgotten

Great. Great album from beginning to end. Great Bass, Vocals and Riffs. AIC went back to their roots

We miss you Layne..... After you have one of the greatest singers of all time and he passes on and you try to replace him this is what you get..... boring lyrics tired guitar solos, junk that no true A.I.C. fan wants to hear. I tried to give it a chance like I did all other post Staley albums but it’s just not there it does nothing for me except remind me of what this band use to be. It’s like every other great 90’s band that is still trying to make music eventually you realize it has to be the money and no other reason because this is trash....... thanks guys what will your next masterpiece bring............

AIC lives on!. Total AIC sound. I’m a HUGE Layne fan, but so thankful these guys continue to make awesome music. Love this album. Drone is my fav song. And they sound incredible live. Can’t wait to see them at the Palladium! RIP Layne Staley!

My Fall is going to ROCK. Love this album. Rainier Fog, Never Fade, and Red Giant are new AIC classics. These guys never fail to deliver outstanding music. Feels nice to have something everyday to jam that's fresh. Want a good day? Turn off the news and turn on this album! Thanks fellas!! Keeping Rock alive!!

Best album of DuVall era. The last two albums were very good. Don’t get me wrong. However, this is the first one since the passing of Layne Staley that measures up to anything they made in the 90s. It’s creative enough not to be a rip off from the music of that era, while still being of such quality that it measures up to the glory days. Definitely my favorite release by any band in 2018.

Fortunate. Great album lots of refreshing guitar play Jerry holds zone and the guitar world Nice vocals there is flexibility in their song selection album is very good from start to finish from a professional he sound band that’s Alice in chainsAnd were very fortunate that they still make the music that they do thank you

Still going strong. Replacing Layne is impossible. However, Jerry & Co have kept true to their AIC roots, sound and DNA while forging into new territory with Mr Duvall at the helm. You can’t compare it to old AIC though. Thank God there is still good music being made like this instead of all the formulaic, generic, and corporate bubble gum crap pop & hip-hop. Lucky to not be growing up now when music is so bad. Fortunately there are some gems like this one out there. The whole album is good. They have not disappointed with this effort.

Keeps getting better!!. There’s a reason AIC continues to be my favorite band of all time: they rock!!! These songs are amazing!! My favorite is “All I Am” probably “Rainier Fog” is a close second but honestly all the songs are excellent!! A+++

Rocks. The grinding melodies, the amazing guitar riffs, jerry cantrell delivers anther great album. They have kept alive grunge rock in their own way making it their own and sound so unlike everything else making them super unique and for this I keep coming back for more!

Stellar. I’m speechless this is so good. Heavier on Jerry’s vocals as opposed to the last two albums which fine by me. Not to slight the newcomer William, as his vocals work well in tandem with Cantrell’s, mind you. There are two standouts immediately on first listen, Fly and Maybe. The rest of album will grow quickly on AIC fans.

The good, the bad, and the distorted.. I'm liking this album a bit more than The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. TDPDH felt a little too bloated and polished; over-produced, I suppose. This is a bit more stripped down and raw, but songs are still a bit too long overall. Only 4 out of 10 songs are less than 5 minutes long. The start-to-finish wall-o'-harmonies isn't as bad on Ranier Fog, either, but Jerry, please let William carry the songs a bit more. Honestly, my biggest issue is the audible distortion throughout: the typical gurgling crackling distortion I hear in the extreme left and right that I hear in a lot of tracks I download from the iTunes store. It sounds to me like it could be one of three things: 1.) digital data compression artifacts 2.) digital dynamic range compression artifacts (a certain popular multi-band compressor plug gets a bit crackly when hit too hard) or 3.) when you hit a VCA compressor too hard with the fastest attack and release settings. Of course it could also be my DAC clipping. Regardless, I'll probably end up buying the CD and playing back on my studio rig. Will be interesting to see if that distortion is still there. So much for the loudness wars coming to an end...

Original. Sounds like this record belongs in the 90s

AIC. Love it, as I have of everything new that has come out. Letting go of Layne was hard and it took a lot of time for me to welcome the new formed AIC. With that said they rock, they still show their roots, and they are out on this new road finding their way. I love the songs, love the band, and love the memory of who they were. CHEERS!

Great listening Rock Album!. Spot on Lyrics and melodic guitar riffs.

AIC Strikes Again!!. I love this album!! “Fly” was my favorite for a while, so was “The One You Know”. “So Far Under” was also really good. Must-get!!

Woah!. This is an album to listen to non-stop!! So amazing!!!

Phenomenal!. Alice in Chains does it again! This album is amazing. I can’t get enough of it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

😃. Yay

Best post Layne. This album brings me right back to the old AIC sound. Definitely their best post Layne album and right up there with Dirt and self-titled. “The One You Know” is soooo good, one of the best AIC songs ever written. I can’t get it out of my head. My second favorite is “So Far Under”, such as cool sounding jam which some how sounds like classic AIC yet has this fresh edge. “...Dinosaurs...” and “...Black..” had their moments but this one is consistently brilliant from start to finish. Great job gentlemen, keep more like this coming.

LOVE IT!. So Far Under is great can’t stop listening to it! So excited for this album!

Yeah. Man I’m liking this!!! I’m a big fan and they don’t disappoint.

Super. Solid Songwriting yet again !!!

Amazing!. They did it again! So many great songs ... was worth the wait. I love u Alice

They just keep getting better!. The last three releases are excellent. Well written tunes, get lyrics and that signature sound. Great band that's still going strong.

A Former Fan…. Still love the old stuff but this album is just boring. I don’t like to criticize bands, especially former favourites, but I was bored the whole time.

Boring. Boring

Never Fade!. AIC

Fell in love all over again. I’ve listened to AIC for about a decade and didn’t really try the new stuff without Layne. When I heard AIC were coming to Australia, I thought I’d better give it a shot and I was in shock in which how much I loved it! Songs like “Fly”, “Maybe”, “Rainer Fog” and pretty much the whole album are awesome tracks. Absolutely loved it!

Genius!. This album is Genius!

Not bad.. I enjoy a few of the songs on this album. The others, not so much. It’s less that they’re bad songs, and more that AiC has begun to move in a new direction.

Best album since Dirt. I love it,I’ve been waiting a long time for this.

L. OwYou is Was

Layne would approve. Never Fade 5stars Nuff said

Mr Francis Hankerson. Got every AIC album and this is the only weak one!! Few good tracks ‘so far under’ (the most reminiscent of the last two albums) ‘the one you know’ ‘All I am’ and I like the grunge era vibe of Red giant it’s almost Soundgarden like 🤘🏼 but some of the songs like ‘never fade’ and ‘Fly’ make me feel like I’m listening to POP FM....bring back the sludge!!!!

A tip of the hat to their past, an exciting glimpse of the future!. I have received the pre-order copy which included three singles 'The one you know', 'So far under' and 'Never Fade'. The first track is definitely a product of the new-age AiC and sounds fantastic with heavy guitar and bass riffs reminiscent of the heavier tracks in the 2013 album, “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here". In stark contrast, ‘Never Fade’ could easily have belonged in the hit 1990 album, “Facelift”, with its guttural vocals sounding eerily like Staley’s. The harmonising between Cantrell and DuVall delivers. Every time. Kinney’s percussion is on point throughout and the wall of sound created by the guitars and Inez’s crunching bass restores faith that there are still a few rock bands who know how to turn it up to 11. Thanks for another brilliant album! (p.s. come to Australia!)

Takes you back!. First Alice In Chains album since Layne passed I’ve purchased. Most songs have a good 90’s grunge haunting riff feel with Jerry and Williams harmonies on most giving it the old sound. Not all Killa tracks as any album is but very solid in my opinion. Enough to stir Layne back up in you. Fly is my favourite albeit a bluesy number. I would rate this 7/10. Defo worth purchasing. You won’t be disappointed. Has reunited me back with Alice In Chains...

Great stuff. Well worth the wait, hope they keep going for many years

modern day classic. I love every AIC Album, from facelift till this one. Only AIC could produce a record of this quality so far on in their career, I hope they continue for many years! I'm going to see them live for the first time in over 20 years is may and I'm looking forward to hearing the old and new together!!

This is Chains. Absolutely love this album. Goosebump stuff 👌🏻

A late comer to the party. I remember back in the early 90's when I first discovered AIC while browsing lps in some record store in my home town. Fell in love with the sound, the lyrics. I lost touch with what the band did after Layne passed; I saw an off chance clip of them playing on a Jools Holland show, but it didn't catch my interest at the time. I was reminicing on some of the great t-shirts of the past and decided to bite the bullet and try Black fades to Blue..... and OMG, the hooks went straight back in. AIC have kept that brilliance despite loss and the big absence from the scene after the MTV unplugged. Purchaced all post MTV three albums tonight and have had them blasting out on repeat. Sorry AIC for doubting you, best music I've listened too in well over a decade.

One of the many bands keeping rock/metal alive. It’s hard not to compare new Alice in Chains material to their older more well-known stuff, but the fact is, Jerry Cantrell was and is the brains behind a lot of their work and you can really tell by just how solid their new releases have held up since Layne Staley’s passing. No one will ever come close to the unique and phenomenal vocals that Layne could belt out, but William Duvall deserves credit for doing his own thing with the band and it working exceptionally well. Jerry’s and William’s harmonies are incredible. Layne would be proud. I’ve listened to the whole album back to back twice now and the only song I’ve had trouble getting into is ‘Maybe’, even then it’s growing on me. Do yourself a favour people, give it a chance!

Still creating greatness. Been with them since the wonderful Facelift ...witnessed 2 ends of the spectrum gigs with Layne one fantastic one very much not so....always purchased everything by them...one of the big 4 of grunge and always will be .......love this....Red Giant & All i Am , my particular favourites.....forever a quality band

Incredible. I’ve been with this band since day one. I adore them. I’ve grown up with them and they are the soundtrack to my life. I absolutely love William. I think he is amazing. I loved Layne. I love William. End of. Different people. And the sooner everyone stops banging on about the past the better. William DuVall is an incredible vocalist. This album is fantastic and a very welcome gift after what’s felt like an eternity!! Above all I am so grateful that we are still able to experience this truly incredible band.

Worth the wait!. Seems like we’ve been waiting for ages for this new album but definitely worth the wait. Can’t stop playing it!! Thank you👍

BOOM!. It's taken AIC some time to shake off the ghosts of the past, but it really feels like they've found their identity with William on vocals here. Black Gives Way felt like a tentative, subdued, almost appologetic first record on the comeback trail. Devil Put Dinosaurs Here was the sound of the band starting to find their feet, and Rainier Fog is the band smashing it out of the park.. My favourite AIC release since DIRT. Long may it continue!
