Descent.... This album is not the best by far. I like his voice and all, but every song in this album sounds like garbage. We waited 2 years for 6 songs... and they all are terrible... I’m giving this 2 stars because I like this singers earlier albums.

Wow. It might be only 6 songs, but it’s 6 perfect songs, so I can’t complain

still not as quality as old Abel. Overall sound is okay, production could’ve been better, but the lyricism is just terrible. Honestly sounds like the same 5 songs duplicated with slightly different beats. Only song I’d come back to listen to is I was never there. Has Abel really lost his creativity?

Hmmmmm.. Beautiful vocals. Song 1 is fantastic. After that the vocals remain but, it’s just one really overly relaxing song. Kind of like a Mariah Carie album. Same tune. Just different words and runs. The only difference is that I think he can actually sing live.

I have to say, I'm disappointed. Starboy was once my religion, this music helped me out of a dark place. Starboy and the rest made feel powerful, but Dear melancholy is just not as good, I still do love it for call out my name, fitting tribute to Selena, but Abel could do better.

Sheer Brilliance. IMHO The Weeknd has the best male voice since the Big Bang. Call out my name gave me chills listening to it, although using autotune on such a sublime voice seemed like a travesty. Shame it is only an EP as he has moved away from pure techno pop of Starboy to give a collection of soaring emotional ballads. Absolutely amazing.

Amazing. I got into Abel's music when Starboy came out and worked my way through his back catalogue. I found each project had a different sound but the first 3 mixtapes were something different all together, which admittedly, I didn't 'get' at first. Eventually I heard them for what they were and appreciated them so much more. This reminds me of that early era in Abel's music career. It's a welcome change from his commercial music, as great as that is on it's own. Well done, Sir. You've done it again.
