Love it!. I love owl city’s music and this album was as enjoyable as his songs have always been for me. Honestly, it saddened and surprised me to see how many people didn’t seem to like it, and I hope that won’t discourage Adam from continuing to make great music.

🥀🖤. I loooooooooooooooove this album, specially the Montana track it’s literally wholesome 🤘🏽❤️both the alt and the normal one

An underwhelming Goodbye to an Excellent artist/band. To me this Is the worst Owl city album by far. Not only is the album cover is just looks like an inspiring & magnificent artist making the background, and then giving the reigns to a 11 year old. This album however has some shining stars in this thick humid layer of darkness like “Lucid Dreams.” But not but all of the other tracks are half what decent, forgettable, lazy, & utter trash. I think Adam Young is a outstandingly excellent musician, I feel that he got tired & wasn’t motivated to make music anymore which is sad to see. I hope Adam is happy on his long awaited break from the limelight and music as a whole.

Delightful to the ears and good for the soul.. It's very good.

Everything Mobile Orchestra Should've Been. Like a lot of people, I wasn't too thrilled about "All My Friends", or even "Not All Heroes Wear Capes", but as a whole, the album is great! There's a perfect blend of old and new styles here. As soon as you start listening to the first track, "Fiji Water", (who doesn't love Adam's Manning conventions?) you're greeted by an intro that can easily be mistaken for that of "Hello Seattle". The song itself reflects the majority of the tracks on the album with its strange familiarity, masterfully blending old and new sounds together to let you know that while you're definitely entering new territory, you're not too far from home. The same could be said for "House Wren". Of course, I have to mention my absolute favorite song on this album, "Lucid Dream"! From the music to the lyrics, this song is basically the most ambitious a song can go while still feeling distinctively and undeniably "Owl City". Overall, this album is far from disappointing. New and old fans alike will love many or most of the songs on here. Owl City is officially back! (Not that he was ever really gone)

Phew 😅. All my friends was like... not the best. But when I heard the alt. Version, I knew it would be good. This album is absolute fire 👌🏻🔥💯

this album makes me sad. cry

I love it!!!. I think this might be your best album. It's really well done and thought through. All the songs are just so amazing. So don't stop whatever it is you're doing.👍

All My Friends. Woah oh oh oh! I really like this song, like, A LOT.

Refreshing!. Hey everyone. I’ve been a fan since I was around 8 years old. I’m now almost 18. That’s hard to believe. My first impressions of the album when the first songs were released were not good. I did not like All My Friends. Also, I do agree with some reviews on here that some of the lyrics in some of the songs are so personal that it’s awkward. However, I waited until the rest of the songs released to make my final judgement. I can now say that I love this album. One thing that I would like to point out is that I favor every alternate version track that he’s made to the original tracks. Especially All My Friends and Montana. The alt version to All My Friends is more Adam’s style and I could maybe see it being on The Midsummer Station or Mobile Orchestra. The alt version of Montana makes me cry almost every time, especially now that I know what it’s about. Overall, this album takes a bit of getting used to, but I do not regret buying it, and I’m so excited to see Adam in concert this September :)

Owl City returns to its roots!. The most wonderful thing about Adam/Owl City is the creative positive vibe, messages, feelings, and music he creates. His other albums flowed in and out of main stream pop styles and drifted from his original Ocean Eyes beloved style. But Cinematic appears to be that glorious step backwards to an Ocean Eyes like album. Adam has returned to the dreaminess and personal expression that his fans fell in love with. The Cinematic album is a beautiful creation from his mind and from the roots that made him loved. Fiji Water, Lucid Dreams, Madeline Island, New York, Be Brave, the Title Song Cinematic, and the Alt version of Firebird are this album’s best songs. Lucid Dreams being the best song, not only by its music but Adam’s clear dream written lyrics that made him a Star! Love Owl City, and love Cinematic!

❤️the best!❤️. When All My Friends came out, I literally couldn’t stop listening to it on repeat. It’s definitely my favorite on the whole album, rivaled only by Be Brave. Cloud Nine is also pretty good, and just the whole album is a work of art. It’s really cool that you’re writing more from the heart now. I love your older albums too, but I’m glad you’re not just cloning Fireflies over and over to get hits. You do what makes you happy, and I love that. ✌️

Hell yeah. Great job

TreyMotsui. Adam Young is probably one of the most talented artists in electric music. He showed me through his style of music that the vocals don't have to match, they just have to cooperate with each other!! I've listened to your songs since I was a kid, and it's always beautiful to hear new ones! Thank you Owl City for giving the light of Jesus Christ to the world!! You're an inspiration!!

I’m sorry Adam :(. I’ve always loved Owl City’s creative and out of the box thinking for their metaphors and lyrics. While I applaud Adam for bearing his soul and getting up close and personal with this album, it’s too literal and mainstream. Almost every song sounds so generic and not like Owl City. It pains me to give this review, but it was just so jarring (not in a good way) listening to this album :( Hopefully some more new music comes out soon and sounds like the original Owl City we all remember, know, and love!

😱 MY BOI IS BACK!!!. Listen up peeps: none of Adam’s work sounds the same. Ever. Similarity is prevalent in some albums, Sure. But this album is totally Owl City, and if you don’t like it, I guess that’s your problem. He’s an amazing person who loves Jesus and he literally plays every instrument imaginable! He is extremely talented in so many ways—God has blessed him with amazing gifts. This album IS very Owl City. He’s known for stunning vocals and lyrics, and there’s plenty of poetry in this album. True, he’s trying different things, but he has ALWAYS done that!! It may not be Ocean Eyes or All Things Bright and Beautiful, but it’s alright. Cuz everything changes. 😉 (thank you Adam for the song Firebird. It is my dearest love off this album) This album deserves to be loved. And true fans will give it that love. I’ve been listening to Owl City for years and I’m still hardcore. 🦉 Every song is killer, so I really can’t rate them one by one. This album is perfection 😊 Adam is stellar in every aspect of his career, and his music is always deep and personal, with spirituality laced through it. So needless to say, enjoy this gem from one of the greatest musical masterminds in history, and may the force be with you. UPDATE: I am extremely angry at all the prejudice for the album’s release. You people have no appreciation for true talent, and that breaks my heart. Adam is a musical SCIENTIST, always experimenting new mediums. Some of his albums and songs are better than others, true, but they’re still HIS. Sometimes you have to put out a lot of mediocre tracks before the hits come back. As a songwriter, I know it’s possible to hit a wall. That doesn’t mean you are any less talented—it just means you need a break. Adam had his break: an entire year’s worth of scores (and man, they were AMAZING). But here’s the thing about taking a break: coming back fresh sometimes results in some cheesiness. Not that this album is cheesy in any way, but I’m just trying to make a point. Owl City will return. I know it will. But for now, be glad he’s back!!

Montana is awesome!!!. A lot of people are saying that “All My Friends” is awesome, and I agree, but I think “Montana” is the bomb! This album is also a different style than what Adam Young is used to doing in a way, which is great! And I love Be Brave, Always, and Firebird! Thank you, Adam!

Nice to meet you, Adam. It feels like this album is a response to someone saying, "Tell me about yourself." We get to hear about Adam's family and the story of his birth. We share nostalgic emotions with him as we look back on days gone by. It just feels so much more personal than any of his previous albums. And then there's the beautiful combination of music and lyrics that feels like it has been perfected as we get to see what it looks like when you take his limits off. The first song really sets the tone for the album, telling us that if he could go back and do it over, he would. And the rest of the songs expand on that, as Adam does things he's never done before because there's nobody there to stop him. This becomes apparent as soon as you hear 'All My Friends'. At the end of it all, I have a very hard time deciding which song is my favorite. 'Fiji Water' is bold and fun, 'The 5th of July' is beautiful and personal, 'All My Friends' is very warm, and I could keep going with positive comments about every song on here. Then come the three alternative versions, and I am completely blown away. Each song is completely changed, and I just want to play them over and over. Whether it's the simple, upbeat 'All My Friends', the calm, soothing 'Montana', or the somber 'Firebird', Adam has found a magnificent way to bring this album to a new level, along with the added touch of the guest vocals. All in all, I'd consider this album the masterpiece I've been wanting from Owl City. Keep going, Adam, and steal the show. Your charm is automatic.

Contrary.... Contrary to some reviews, I tend to like "All My Friends." I like listening to it before or after Zoe Group's song "Because He Lives (Amen )" The Alt Version is really nice ^-^ ~ Other favorites of this album are "New York City" and "Cloud Nine." Thank you for the music.

Adams music is superb and superior. As a person who is skeptical and a critic of today’s music; Adam’s music is some of the greatest in the pop world. Keep composing the good stuff, Adam!

Disappointing. I really loved 2008-2012 Owl City. The lyrics always balanced making metaphors with things that didn't seem to make sense but just worked. The only song on this album that come close to the great lyrics that I love Owl City for is "Lucid Dream". I like Fiji Water to a certain extent as well, but most of the songs have the most generic lyrics with hyper-generic themes. The worst offender by far is "All My Friends", which is soul-sucking in its blandness. I really wish I didn't feel this way about an Owl City album, but here we are.

Owl City Shares his Life With Us Through Songs. This album is quite an outstanding collection of songs that Adam Young uses to give his listeners a picture of his life's story. It's quite amazing how almost every song directly to his story as he went from unknown, to Owl City, to finally meeting his one and only. Past Owl City was more playful and imagination originated, but this is the greatest infusion of true passion placed into any of Owl City's albums and I absolutely love it! Don't get me wrong, the alternate reality that Fireflies takes you into will never be duplicated, but this album certainly takes Owl City to another level. I highly recommend Cinematic! 5 ⭐️'s for this 5 star collective masterpiece!

Beautiful. Some of my personal favorites of this album are Firebird (alternative version), Madeline Island, and Cinematic. Adam keeps surprising me with his many talents... can't wait for what's next!

Life is Cinematic!. Great album! Worth the wait. Cinematic should be the intro song to the Oscars! Firebird and NYC are also favs. Thank you Adam!

My Favorite Album!. Good gosh, this man and his music give me such life. "Be Brave" kept me afloat during one of my worst depression states and helped me work up the confidence I lacked. "Fuji Water", "New York City", "Madeline Island", "Lucid Dream" and "Montana" are so inspiring and uplifting, and give me such hope for the futue. I love listening to them outdoors whenever I'm biking, running, or just overlooking a valley, and they never fail to pick me up when I'm feeling down. "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" is special to me because I love my dad. He's the greatest man I've ever met and the song always makes me tear up remembering that. The others are great too, but those are my favorites. If I had any dislikes, "All My Friends" might be the only one I think is odd, but I love the alt version. Still, can't recommend this album enough. Adam, keep up the great work. Thanks for all you do.

Yea boiiiiiiiii. I enjoy this album so much and I’m so happy for Adam and his success.

Best song ever haters ganna hate but idc -Levi-sike. Best song better the albums are so good I wrote on all of them Adam you are my favorite song writer in all and singer.

AMAZING ALBUM. I fell in love with his music since 5th grade, and there was never one song I ever disliked. I own all of his albums and songs, so that says a lot. You always seem to impress me with your stylistic music and lyrics!!! I like how you used to write goofy lyrics for songs, and now your songs tell a story. And I like how you share that with us. Your album is amazing I can’t wait to hear it all and everything else that is to come.

Hold on now. Whether you do or don't like this album it's all about what's on the inside, emotion is being put somewhere in this album, if we are all looking for dance music we should probably look somewhere else :)

Awesome!. This album is absolutely wonderful. Would recommend.

True to form but deeper than expected!. Owl City brings us a new album full emotion and vulnerability that is both captivating and inspirational. His voice weaves harmony and melody into a tapestry of life and faith that has forever endeared his musicality to me. His progress as an artist is on full display in this album; full of what we expect yet daring to push the edge of those expectations. Put this one on repeat for a couple of hours, you won’t be disappointed.

Took him long enough. Fiji water is the Bees Knees but the other bangers don’t show up until Lucid Dreams and on, once you got that point, it’s lit asf, definitely ain’t no ocean eyes level tho

Owl City?. Through most of this review I'll be referring to Owl City more so than Adam himself, since Owl City is something more distinct from Adam as just a general musician. That being said, this album was a serious disappointment for me. It sounded absolutely nothing like Owl City, with the exception of "Lucid Dream" and "Cloud Nine". I understand the premise of this album was to tell a story, but the way most of the music sounds, it's like the story is being told by a stereotypical monotoned professor giving a lecture on the importance of cheese graters in 18th century Italy. What I'm really saying, is that this music was seriously deficient in creativity and variation, especially when you consider the other beautiful work Adam has made through Owl City. The vocals were very lackluster, leaving behind all of the beautiful, whimsical magic that I think of when I hear "Owl City". To top that, the background music was boringly simple and felt rather empty compared to what I know Owl City can produce. I understand that some people think that his music went down hill starting at Midsummer Station, but I personally felt like Ultraviolet and Mobile Orchestra were still both very much Owl City. The sound was a little more pop-like, sure, but there was still a great deal of that mystical effect that I always craved from him and his lyrics/electronic opus. I know that Adam stated he wants to make music his whole life, so for now I'll enjoy the other great works that he has crafted and hope for the best in future releases.

Could be better. Rap and country not a good combo

Filled with God’s Spirit. That’s all I can say. This is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I hear God speaking directly to me through almost every song. I can’t stop listening to it.

Glad He’s Back. Simply an amazing album! Love all 18 tracks! Can’t wait for the next album Adam! Thank you!

Good Stuff that grabs you in and makes you want more!. This album is a bit different than the rest but sounds like Adam’s Scores came into play a bit on this album!! After all of that work for a year I wouldn’t have expected anything less!! Love and wish to have heard more from Breanne Düren in this album but she is there just need to listen for her!! “All My Friends Acustic” is the only song where she has a solo... I love the both of them and the way they sound together, it is out of this world, but not a lot of her in this album “Bring on more vocals from Breanne Adam!! ❤️” You really do get a connected feeling and understanding about Adam in these great songs and almost every song on this album I feel people could relate to at least one or more experiences or another!! Favorite songs are Lucid Dream, Cloud Nine, and Montana, but seriously, they all fit in one way or another because the album has a mix of Happy, Sad, and Mystical! Adam and Owl City has a way of getting us to look through the simple eyes of a child while living in an adult world to take a step back and realize that tomorrow is another day and stop and smell the roses!! Love Owl City!! Keep up the awesome work guys!!

The album just keeps getting better with every reel!!. It’s so good! I like every song in the album so far (All My Friends who??? Who’s she?)! It such a dreamy album! And its even better live

Owl City Fanatic. Yay!!! So glad he got over his pop thing. THIS is Adam Young, people. ❤️❤️❤️ Be yourself, and keep making music that expresses exactly how I feel, and activates all my imagination powers. 😄 Love you, Owl city! Always have, always will. Also, thank you for having some Christian themes. I really appreciate you being brave and doing what you love and not letting everyone tell you what will be popular, because my favorite album is one YOU made, without a label or anything. You do you! ❤️❤️

Long Distance. What I love most about this album is that it has a song about New York and Montana on it. I met my husband on Instagram and he lived in New York and I lived in Montana. Our one year anniversary was June 28th 2019. What are the odds

Awesome!. Great as always!

Love it!. Ever since I heard of owl city I have loved it. This album though seems more about Adam's life(which is great) but not what owl city has been in other albums before. Keep up the good work though! The songs have great personality and fun.

Can’t get enough!!!. Adam Young has outdone has created yet another masterpiece, just like he did when he created ocean eyes, the midsummer station, and every other album he has created. I just love this album.

YES, He's back!. I have always loved listening to Owl City! I'm so glad he's back!! I have to say that i wasnt sure about all my friends, BUT THE REST OF THE ALBUM IS GOOD Y'ALL!

Better and better!. This album keeps getting better and more amazing with every new song added! Every song touches me in new ways and makes me feel closer to my family and all the experiences we all go through and think we are alone in! Keep being amazing Owl City!

😳. I tried to like this but it is never happening

EUPHORIC, uplifting, hopeful. I’m a fan of Adam’s music because of the authenticity of everything he puts out. He doesn’t make music only for the $, nor does he seem to make it for the pure enjoyment of it, Adam communicates through music. He pours out his heart in an incredibly complex way lyrically and musically. His music cannot be compared to any other artist’s because music to Adam almost seems like his language. When listening to his music, it almost feels like you’re invading his privacy because there is something so intimate about the music and lyrics he is communicating through it. That being said, Cinematic was a real pleasure to listen too. It is overall euphoric and hopeful, and really just made my heart soar. Each of our lives are kind of like a movie, and this album even made me reflect back on my own and the key moments that really helped define who I am. What a cool idea for an album! Thank you Adam for always putting your whole heart into what you do, and for not conforming to the pressures of this society to fit in, or create music that fits in with the rest. Your work is like a diamond in a mountain of coal. Top 7(I couldn’t only pick 5): Montana House Wren Be Brave Cloud Nine Winners Never Quit New York City Always

A different, but still very good album!!. I think, unfortunately, a lot of reviews on here were written by people who only listened to the early release songs (specifically “All My Friends”) and immediately threw in the towel. I was a little concerned when I heard that song as well, but thankfully it’s one of the weakest songs on the album, as most of the other songs are fantastic! This is definitely Adam’s most personal album. It’s oftentimes very autobiographical, such as “Fiji Water,” “5th of July,” “Not All Heroes West Capes,” and “Montana.” There are still some songs that have the whimsical and magical lyrics Owl City is known for, but I like that Adam’s matured a bit and telling the listener more about his life with this album. Musically, I think the album is great overall. Some stuff didn’t work as well, but most of it is really good. My favorite tracks are “Fiji Water,” “House Wren,” “Montana,” “Lucid Dreams,” “Cloud Nine,” “Madeline Island,” “New York City,” and the title track, “Cinematic.”

Relatable. Having grown up in both Owatonna and Ottumwa, these tracks are all very relatable. All the small details about each city is really cool to hear. Great album to chill to.

Good. This one is good. It has been a long time since he put a new cd out. This is better then some. Ocean Eyes was good and now years later this could be a hit cd. Check it out.
