Drop Your Concepts, This Is The One. After a lifetime of listening to every Floyd album pretty much all the time--they're etched--this is the one I can listen to again and again. I mean out of both Syd ones and non-Syd ones, even. It doesn't hurt that they gigged what turned into "Dogs" and "Sheep" for years before they put it down in the studio. This is somehow for me paired with Meddle, which is all about inner space and predates one of the canonical "best" ones (Dark Side and The Wall), but is somehow really amazing, especially in how both albums show the band as a band that can rock out. But in the end, what stands right out is the Wright keyboard work about 2/3 of the way through "Dogs." That music with the word "stone" vocoding into the muffled groan of the primordial slime as dogs bark as if rippling in water on either side of the stereo image. Bingo.

Will never get tired of this gem. I love Pink Floyd pretty much unconditionally. I’m into all their different eras, respect everything for what it is, and I just love it all. But this album? This is something else entirely. From the captivating grip “Dogs” manages to hold over you from the moment the needle drops, despite its long length, to the catchy “Pigs (Three Different Ones)”, and the simplicity of both the intros and outros, Pigs On the Wing, this album is a masterpiece. Oh and don’t forget “Sheep” too! Gotta love “Sheep”! This was my first PF album on vinyl, and rightly so. It’s mind blowing. I played dogs for my sister, and although she initially scoffed at its hefty length, she was enthralled by it. This album manages to amaze new fans every time and in my opinion, it is by far the best thing that came out after dsotm.

Underrated album. Their most underrated album in my opinion. Still a fantastic album. Dogs is one of their bests!

Uterly excellent!. I have had this CD since the '80s, and it is utterly excellent! Excellent desciption of the 3 types of people in society! 😊

Absolutely Amazing!!. Not only does this album define the boundaries of lyrical creativity, describing the social hierarchy as a whole throughout the album- "Animals" expresses so much musical creativity instrumentally as well. It is yet again, another great classic album of Pink Floyd's. Definitely worth the buy, in fact, words can not describe how much worth a buy this album actually is. So buy it, plug in your headphones or earbuds, or what-have-you, sit back and be ready to embark on a journey through musicality, it's definitely worth it. P.S. The album also pretty much flows endlessly, (which is a great technique of Pink Floyd's by the way)...

So clever. This album is a classic. I love it because of the sound but also because of how clever the lyrics are. Awesome album!!

I WAS THERE. NO WARDS CA DECRIBE WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE STANDING OUT SIDE THE FARM DOORS WATCHING THEM MAKE THIS ALBOUM DOGS WAS CREATED ON A SAD EVENT THAT HAPPENED ON THE FARM WHITCH MAKES IT ONE OF THE BEST SONGS THAY EVER MADE TY GUYS FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF IT NORM

Roger Waters opens up. Dogs is magical, this is where Pink Floyd kind of divides tho in my opinion 😭

Absolutely amazing!. Now considering I was only 5 when this was released it’s still my favorite Pink Floyd album. I created a Pink Floyd fanatic out of 15 year old son which makes me so proud that he doesn’t listen to the mindless crap coming out of SoundCloud. Timeless music transcending generations! ❤️🤟🏼

An Underrated Classic!. When most people think of Pink Floyd they think of Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall.Animals is a great underrated Pink Floyd album. This is my favorite Pink Floyd album. It is an epic and complex album. If you are just getting into Pink Floyd buy this album along with Wish You Were Here.

Accidental Music Discovery. So besides Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" that was the only album I loved from the band. One day as I was listening to my rock mix on Spotify and the song "Dogs" came on. Despite it being a 17 minute song, I actually like the song. As a matter of fact, when I drive home from work, I find myself listening to the whole entire album at least twice a week. I do agree with most of the post when many said it was an underrated album. They are correct. Definitely on my Christmas list of albums I want to own. Beside "Dogs" my favorite songs are "Sheep" and "Pigs on the Wing 2"

Amazing. This album is so great. I recommend it on Vinyl and cranked way up! One of the best....

PIG Man PIG Man. A MUST HAVE for any Rock Fan! Song 3 on this album is my ringtone on my cell phone. Remarkably Brilliant! Don't pass this album by.

Possibly the best album ever. Spotless

Amazing. I'm a 17 year old kid I don't smoke pot or do any drugs this should say something about floyds music it draws all people not just older aged people or stoners but everyone my sister is 5 and she loves another brick in the wall

Phenominal. In my opinion their, magnum opus.

The best. Listen to this album outside at night, have a couple drinks, and be mesmerized. Best Floyd album ever! By far.

Well-Executed Concept Album. Don't like it as much as Wish You Were Here or Dark Side, but this album is certainly in my top five from Floyd. The songs are epically long, but they take you on a journey and are beautifully crafted. "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" is my favorite of the 3 opuses.

This concept album applies more than ever. Animals is much more than just an album, it's a commentary on the world of power, corruption, and how individuals can be a drain on those who want liberty and peace. I saw Pink Floyd on the In The Flesh tour which supported Animals and Wish You Were Here, by for the best concert of my life! The solos in dogs still stands as one of the most gritty but beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. I've owned many copies of Animals over the years, from LP to 8 track to CD form, it is a must have work that I've had in my collection since it was originally released.

Stunning, Never Gets Old. Knew ALL Floyd material previous to this release, all obviously great, or at least interesting. Then this came out, and absolutely blew me (and my friends, and music lovers) away. Powerful music, powerful politics, the band at their creative pinnacle, IMO. Sorry, but EVERYTHING (Floyd) after this has only great MOMENTS, not the great completeness of Animals.

MASTERPIECE. My favorite album of PF 6 tracks only but it makes up for so much everything about it is amazing but the guitars on this is simply unreal thank you PF!

Harmlessly passing your time in the grasslands away. Sheep is my favorite 🐑😊

Classic Acid Rock in the Barnyard!. I’ve been listening to this album since it first came out. There’s a bit of genius in the comparisons made between human and animal behavior. If you get it, make sure you get all five parts in the proper order. Happy Listening!

My favorite Floyd album. I remember going through a phase in my early teens of seeing if I could listen all the way through epically long songs, as I had recently gotten into progressive rock and jazz. The thought of 17:05 minutes of a song called 'Dogs' seemed like some insurmountable task at first glance. But I sat there absolutely slack jawed at the journey of that track. It was mind blowing; the clearly defined sections, the biting lyrics, the beautifully harmonized and constructed guitar solo, etc. I couldn't believe how fast it shot by. Now, something like 100 listens later, this album never ceases to amaze me. Compelling writing, uncompromising in its entirety, and different than any album they had done before. This one usually never leaves my car.

Not the Pink Floyd album people wanted, but the one people needed. While Animals isn’t my favorite Pink Floyd album, it’s easily my second favorite. The whole concept of the album is very prescient and timeless. Sure, it’s loosely based on the writings of Orwell, but I think that those themes combined with the music of this album really brings it to life in ways that a written or spoken word can’t. Honestly, I think it would be interesting to see an Animal Farm or 1984 film that fits with Pink Floyd’s music. The three epics in this album have this feeling of anger, confusion, envy, and existentialism: all things that we continue to experience in modern capitalist society. Every time I listen to this album, it’s a new experience and gets me to think even more. And I think the album cover of the Battersea Power Station with the flying pig is probably the best representation for what they wanted to show what this album was all about. And it’s also my favorite album cover. Maybe people, including many Pink Floyd fans, don’t like this album and I’m not sure why. I think it’s because it’s very overtly political and not subtle. But then at the same time, will praise The Wall (my favorite Pink Floyd album), which is not subtle whatsoever. But, I think when you listen to Animals, you will find some much within it lyrically and musically. Of the epics, my favorites are: Sheep Dogs Pigs All are great songs though. You all should give it a listen.

One of the most underrated albums ever. Start to finish, it is an all time great album, period.

My favorite album. A must purchase for all Floyd fans. This is my personal favorite.

Pink Floyd at it's best. (almost). Without "The Wall" or "Animals", "Dark Side of the Moon" puts Pink Floyd in the Rock and Roll HOF. I love their first 2 albums. The Wall is one of those perfect storms. Wow. I remember years ago my younget son was looking out the window as I was playing "Dogs". When he heard the dogs barking he thought they were someones dogs barking in the distance. He said, "those dogs are going to get into trouble". So cute.

Amazing animals. What a masterpiece, it is a dark journey, like a 1984 world-great- or Animal Farm.

Masterpiece!. One cool album. Listen with great set of headphones and kickback. You’ll take a trip and never leave the farm.

The Danger is Real. Always been a huge fan of this album and Pink Floyd in general. Here, you'll find a cold and unsettling atmosphere, described appropriately as Orwellian (read Animal Farm, then listen to this) and perfectly illustrated in the cover art. The music is classic Pink Floyd rock, very raw in its presentation and similiar to "One of These Days" or "Echoes" in its gradual build up, then unrelenting destruction of steel. I often find it a relief from Floyd's more commercially successful albums. You'll find plenty of incredible solos on here as well. Each song is unique its tale, but flows wonderfully together as a part of Waters' grand assault on those all-too-familiar "pigs on the wing."

Underrated masterpiece. Dark Side and the Wall are absolutely amazing, but for some reason, they are commended greatly for their social commentary and musical creativity whereas Animals doesn't get much hype. This album has ten times the social commentary and twenty times the musical creativity of the other two, and after the full forty minute listen, I've decided that it's my favorite of theirs. Definitely worth the ten bucks.

Quality stuff. Fantastic

perfect album. perfect album

Prime Floyd. Complex yet gratifying and unforgettable.

OMG. Wow!

Dark, brilliant, and timeless. This is such a biting and surreal album, mixed with sonic touches that take you deep into the world of Animals. The 3 kinds of animals are of course a view of society. This is lyrically complex and yet simple somehow. You *must* listen to the with headphones otherwise you miss the layering and subtle synthesized sounds. I've had this album in my collection since the early 80s (back then I only had the cassette tape version -- sound quality was awful). The remastered version has brought to life all the original production fidelity. Incredible work from a very complicated group of musicians who never seemed to get along. It's hard to fathom. Get this album -- it's dark, brilliant, and a timeless commentary on society and politics.

Fantastic. One of their best!

Arrian & Arrial. Will be taking this album to my grave

Heavy Floyd. Definitely the group’s heaviest album. David Gilmour’s playing on this album is ridiculous. If you love classic rock guitar, this album is like the Gold Standard. It has it all. Acoustic, multiple solos, harmonies, feedback, overdubs. Animals delivers.

Only 4 stars? What?. I really like Animals, though I don't love it as much as the two albums that surround it. The music isn't as deep and complex as some of their other albums and it may be the only Pink Floyd album that I don't think has aged well. All that being said, I like every song on it. It is the most guitar dominated album these guys have done and it really rocks out in places. And I think Roger Waters really came into his own as a singer here. So, four stars. Please don't kill me. Thank you. You have been very naked.

Never gets old. 40 years later--I have never tired of any part of this album. I remember being transfixed in the summer of 1977 on the beach in Long Island listening to 'Dogs". 40 years later the symmetry and the lyrical concept of the entire album combined with the dynamic pulsing energy and beauty of the music--this is my favorite Floyd album.

❤️. ❤️

This is the best album of all time.. Animals by Pink Floyd is quite simply a masterpiece. This album is truely a work of art. From begining to end this album is great. Would highley recommend this album to any person, even if there not a Pink Floyd fan!

Even better. Than Dark Side of the Moon.

Magnificent. The three main songs, Dogs Pigs and Sheep, are magnificent masterpieces. Way worth the money.

A Must Have For Pink Floyd Fans. One of my favourite albums of all time!!

Sheep have been shawn. THe album is terrific, but my download version won't let me play "Sheep", it says my device is not authorised to play it, yet the rest of the album (downloaded all at once), plays fine. Disappointing not being able to listen to the album the way it was intended.

farq2. wont let me play pigs three different ones

Aging like a fine wine. Animals was a huge step away from the hugely successful and influential Dark Side... and Wish you were here..... It is well known that Around this tine, for the first time in the band’s history Waters totally dominated the writing and Rick Wright contribution was minimal....and tensions within the band were brewing. However nearly 40 years later, Waters rekindled his love for this album and the underlying political and social message of Animals in his world tour.....and now, Waters is claiming the proposed 40th anniversary Box Set will finally be released when the album celebrates its 45th anniversary.
